Johnny...

In a very small acquaintance with him, through a mutual friend, he was a very interesting guy -- out most nights on SBH for dinner, always with a "posse" of extended family, he was generous to all around him, emotionally & in other ways. He was very private, though one time very generously flattered a guest of The Normandie, also dining at La Guerite, with attention when he learned that she AND her mother had been long time groupies . . . remembering them, he said, from numerous concert meetings. In the weeks after Irma, he also opened his lovely hillside property above Marigot Bay to island residents who were without shelter. As the "Elvis of France," Johnny leaves an indelible mark.
