So much for the posting/email/updated report that everything was back to normal as far as phones, internet etc. were concerned.
 
well, la grande saline has always been ( and, i hope will remain so) in the sticks. therefore, low on the priority list with la collectivité.

part of the charm of the island is that on a tiny 8 sq km rock situated on the divide of the caribbean sea and atlantic ocean you can have such divergent ambiances, atmospheres, communities, cultures, landscapes.
 
I have been saying all along that the reports of everything back to normal were premature. we also, in petit saline, have no phone line and no internet connection, and the water supply to much of the island was cut off today due to a broken pipe... people are exhausted from a month of really hard work and clean up and starting the season more tired than they should be... it is a slow process and while everyone will be happy to see you when you get there, the line about adjusting your expectations is a good one...
