What's optimistic? Doesn't it sound like the hotel is closed for 9-12 months (Summer 2018 technically ends 9/21/2018)

Yes, and given the state of the island damage, it probably is optimistic.

One might surmise that the management of Eden Rock might know their timetable better than us guessers from afar.

My understanding is that management at Eden Rock wants to use this period to reconstruct in a fashion that corrects / remedies flaws in systems & design that have historically hampered its efficiency & operations. The extended period, thus, makes sense . . . such an ambitious plan will be more complex than simple re-building and, I expect, will create a venue of formidable design & beauty.

Eden Rock Villas confirmed our villa will be ready Thanksgiving week. Seems the Dec. date could be to set an overall expectation for when the majority of their villas will be ready, but it is most likely on a case by case basis.

In a more recent note the Hotel itself may take as long as until next season to open up completely.
