Oh my! Those meals look divine. ...and those FRITES are my new best on the island! Unfortunately, I'm usually too stuffed for dessert so thank you for enjoying the profiteroles in my honor. I agree with the kid's table conversation, by the way!

We pretty much had Flamands to ourselves on this cloudy and windy day until that rain ran us off. There was a bit of (new) seaweed on the sand today but a barely noticeable amount in the water.

We retreated to the other side of the island for lunch at O'Corail. A big thanks to Kim Reed for enlightening us to this dive of a restaurant. Dive.... get it?

I figured that since La Gloriette was closed today, we could easily poach a spot in their lot. Nope! It was blocked by a chain.

For the the first time ever we got to sit at the lower tables (on and under the beach, as our feet were often under water). Very cool!

View from the table. The sun came out, but as you can see, there's some seaweed here. It looked worse on the beach than in the water.

We started with the seafood combo app for four. It was pretty cool. They had this app is sizes of 2, 4, 6.

Daughter's burger and fries. After ordering a few different meat dishes medium rare and getting things that were squarely in the medium camp, she ordered this one "medium rare, but closer to rare". Sadly, once again she was served a fully medium burger.

Meat my Fish looks interesting although I have no interest in the salmon or the Asian shrimp they are displaying ( unless it's wild shrimp and I missed the sign )
I ll have to check it out in November

Thanks for the nice words folks!!

After lunch we headed over to Gouverneur just to show the kids one of our favorite beaches and lo and behold, it was completely seaweed free! What a difference a couple of days make. And it was sunny too! It was a new and wonderful sensation to be on this beach in the late afternoon (4 - 5:30 or so) and have the beach still in full sun. Our normal island time is early December and we rarely come here after lunch because the beach is in the shadows of the hills pretty early.

I miss sunsets from our villa in summer, but it is still a great place to be...up the road from the beach. I like this neighborhood and I am glad you got to enjoy the sun a bit.

    Keep making those family memories.

Just got back from a quick dip at Gouverneur. The weirdest sight was a grounds keeper using a leaf blower to blow off (dry off??) the flower bushes down. Ear the parking area.

Where were you that you found the St Barth D'Abord sticker? There's very little of that logo left on the island.

It was on the back of a car at Saline. I haven't seen it for sale in a shop or for anywhere else for that matter. The other one was Grain an appertment a few doors down from Cote Port.

Re: Random photos from late July/early Aug

The last of the St Barth D'Abord stock is probably long gone. The Ship Chandelry above Le Repaire was selling off the remaining stock. I bought the last of the full-sized flags from them, and that was at least 5 years go. I went back a few years ago looking for a smaller flag, and they had none.

If you like old-school hardware stores, with narrow aisles stocked top to bottom with all sorts of odd items, then it's worth a visit.
