After reading the posts on the quandary one of the Forum members posed who has a 'short dated' passport, it might make sense for those in the know to put together a more 'formal' write up for travelers to SBH, who have these types of questions. I don't know the answers here but I felt we were somewhat unclear on the information we offered to the member.
What is the policy of the airlines and are they all the same?
What are the St. Barth policies as to Passports and their expiration dates?
Does St. Maarten have the same policies as St. Barth as many enter through that 'port?' If different, how?
Is it accurate that if one goes by ferry, a blind eye is turned to the possible issue, as stated by a member? Is this even good advice?
If one arrives by yacht, is there any difference in how the rules are applied?
If the passport has expired while on the island, what are the policies of the local customs, the airlines and U./S. customs on reentering the U.S.?
For those of you that know these things, please post and we will see if it is worthy of a sticky.
