Just got the Amazon Echo yesterday and highly recommend it for anyone, but especially those who have disabilities or are limited in any way.
My eldest son is a special needs person confined to a wheelchair, with very low vision and limited hand skills.
Siri on an iPhone has been such a boom to him as he could finally send and receive texts, listen to music and books on "tape".
Alexa will be his Christmas gift! Unbelievable what the device can do -- turns on my family room lights, starts the TV and other components, such Apple TV and answers all kinds of queries on weather, time, news etc. "She" will also read Kindle books and audibile.com books. Has to be seen to be believed.
