What a Wonderful 10d trip to Paradise we had! Love our villa in Lurin where we have stayed for the past few years. Lunches/Dinners included: Santa Fe, La Plage, La Gloriette, Taino, Do Brazil, Tamarin, Cheval Blanc, Orega and Eddys. All meals were very good and Fun!! Some highlights are below.
Not my photo, but this one will get the excitement level up!
All went smoothly and Vincent, et al, took good care of us on arrival day. Our gracious villa owner had a couple bottles of two of my favorite Chablis, Wm Favre-- Fourchaume and Valmur, ready and waiting, and I had my Skols! going by 330P! As is our custom, we had our first dinner at Santa Fe and it was so good to see my friend Manu for one last time. He knew what I would be ordering and told me he had been saving big "Hank" for me. This was the first of 4 L/D there this time. Of course, Manu will be greatly missed by all.
Visits to Marche U, Segeco and Le Gout de Vin secured needed supplies, Champs and some terrific Burgundies, primarily white. The following day was Bikini brunch day at La Plage, always a fun stop (love the guy getting a selfie in the bg!).
We opted for a light lunch of shared appetizers-- crispy shrimps, burrata w/ tomatoes and their beet carpaccio, with a nice burgundy. Very nice! Followed up with a brief stay on St Jean. And a Flaming tree.
I am typically up 1-2 hrs before my sweet wife and spend my time, reading and relaxing, as well enjoying the great views out toward Gustavia and Shell Beach, followed by a run to Choisy for breakfast pickups. Then to a beach or ride in the morning with pool lounging in the afternoon accompanied by a burgundian vino and/or Champ supplements as a necessary requirement.
Susan loves the new Tamarin (and Paco- Lol!!), so we were off to see Paco and Julie, and the duck of course. The Mahi and the Tuna tartar were superb.
About this time our two married daughters arrive and I go into host mode. They are thrilled to be here and have been anticipating this trip for months.
After the requisite Champs on the patio, we are off to Eddys! Some great choices, but the Tuna plate was a big hit!
Meanwhile, Les Voiles was in full swing and our patio provided a perfect spot for viewing! And a nice Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin hit the mark!
Seemed time to try the much acclaimed Orega as the many good reviews on the forum has my taste buds in overdrive for this one. All my girls loved Greg and he was the perfect host. The meal was fantastic and some highlights were the Tuna tartar w/ caviar, Kobe Tataki and Seabass. This was my favorite dinner of this trip.
On our first trip('95) we stayed at the then Isle de France, so we always try to get back for a visit, thus a lunch at Cheval Blanc was something I thought my girls would enjoy! On the way back, I was out-voted and a Gustavia shopping session happened. Very painful it was.
Greg and Kate invited us to a private showing at her Ortega Art gallery a couple nights later. Her art is very good and fun and we had a terrific time hearing the story of their courtship and several other humorous tidbits. Delightful couple. And the night did result w/ a purchase.
Many fun days and nights, with special people, that came to an end all too soon....
