Clos Sainte Magdeleine- Cassis- Imported by Kermit-Lynch

Tasted there yesterday, in fact. 2015 vintage is excellent in the blanc and rosé as was the cuvée spéciale Bel Arme in the 2014. Aurélie, wife of Jonathan Sack, who owns the estate with his father, conducted the tasting for a Flemish speaking Belgian couple and Mme Cassidain and myself. Spur of the moment thing hiking back down from la Couronne de Charlemagne and our pique-nique up there in near gale force winds. Enjoyed their rosé as a pre-apéritif in the apartment before walking to the port and Chez Nino for an outstanding dinner of grilled loup. Accompanied by Clos Ste Magdeleine blanc, of course ! Btw, the pre-apéritif rosé was excellent at room temperature of about 65 degrees and in no way inhibited us from taking our usual Negroni accompanied by olives, tapenade, rouille, aïoli, and toasts.

Kermit Lynch has been the domaine's American importateur for 40 years. You may be able to order directly from them in Berkeley.

I called Kermit Lynch about a week ago. They dropped that wine because of poor sales. Put it on close out and it's gone. Said they might consider it for next year.

Not the prettiest day but still lovely view from the terrace.

Pique-nique on yesterday's hike with another fabulous local wine (Bandol) from about 20 minutes down the road.
