Our friend Bjorn Okholm Skaarup has brought a wonderful collection of bronze statues to the island, based on the Carnival of the Animals music, they give human attributes to the animals, a cheetah who wants to go faster has a scooter, a giraffe who wants to be taller is on stilts.. quite a story getting them here (3 tons via Fed Ex with the majestic lion stuck in san juan; delivery last week in the pouring rain) but about 8 of them are at the Collectivity in Gustavia, two fabulous big ones and two small ones at Le Toiny Hotel, and 4 mid-size at SPACE Gallery in Gustavia where there is an opening reception tomorrow, Monday 11/10.. 6pm-8pm, so please stop by...

Lovely to meet Bjorn on Saturday night with charming wife Joanna -- fun, bright, interesting, talented young couple. The sculptures are whimsical, beautifully executed, and bring new, great cultural interest to SBH. Congratulations to Bjorn and all who contributed to mounting this exhibition.

We specifically went to Le Toiny today to see Bjorn's Girafee and Ostrich sculptures in the nature's setting. Both look very impressive.
