Exclamation PSA :iOS (iPhone /iPad ) photo posting 101. Works for Android, PC & Mac too

Must be time for a refresher as I just got a couple of questions on how to do it!

BTW, while this is showing the iPhone/iPad method, the Image icon is recommended for Android, Windows or Mac devices to achieve the maximum size in the post. If you use the Attach, you only post a thumbnail of the image.

    1. In a create post mode, click on the image icon -- circled

    2. In the dialog box click Choose and then Choose existing

Note the box pops up for the option to take the photo or use the album

    3. Upload

Now, you may have noticed that sometimes the posted photos are sideways or upside down. This is due to the way that iPhone camera, and many other cell phone cameras use software to note the proper orientation. That software is not used on the forum and most other websites, so the image may be upside down or sidewise after posting. How to fix in your iPhone follows:

    The before shots:

Portrait -- long side up - the most common problem

Landscape - long side horizontal, button to right -- note this always works correctly -- the easiest fix is to do it right the first time!

Landscape - long side horizontal, button to left - the upside down.

I found out the same principle applies to my Galaxy S.

Because that removes the rotation information and allows the photo to be posted as you desired and not upside down or sideways.

    Ahh, thanks.

And you'll be happy to know I've used your "home button on the right" trick to teach many people how to take a proper photograph in the past.

yes, Android has a similar EXIF code to indicate rotation. Editing will remove the code.

    This from an Android forum.

Very good. I forgot it existed. However, the use of Attachment for deleting is still the only way to do it.

Andy brings up a good point. Say you post a sideways post and need to correct. If you are within the editing time, you can edit the post, Go Advanced to Manage Files and Remove the offending image. Then fix the image and upload it placing it the correct spot.
