Cue the Jaws music

How close to shore do large sharks typically come? That is, is it commonplace for them to be near a shoreline . . . or is it infrequent? Also, why don't we hear of shark attacks in the Caribbean?

Great whites primarily want to eat high fat food such as seals so they are more apt to be at a shoreline hunting seals than any other shark which just chases other fish ......there are hardly any coastal sharks at all in the Caribbean .... Not enough food for them and most sharks really don't like ocean temps that high

Very interesting, Mike . . . thanks. Another reason to go light on desserts -- I don't want to be mistaken for a seal.
