Lunch and linger

Hi all. So after the thread about lunching and beaching at Taiwana, I wondered what some other great choices for a lunch-and-linger would be? This seems to be an ideal activity… making a whole afternoon out of lunch. Are there other hotels or beach side restaurants where there is an open policy of "eat, then make yourselves at home"? OR are there options to go and pay a "day fee" for use of chairs on the beach or by the poolside? We're staying in a villa, as most do, and there are no chairs to take to the beach. We don't mind this for most days, but wouldn't mind taking a day or two of our vacation to go and spend a day in a perfectly padded beach lounger and allow someone else to worry about making the food and the drinks.

What's your favorite "make a day of it" location?

The Isle De France, which is right next door, has the same policy. Also, Guanahanni used to do it, but I would double check.

The Isle de France Hotel has a nice lunch and lounge on the beach. Gloriette restaurant on Grand cul de Sac has lounge chairs on the beach too. Nikki Beach, Eden Rock and La Plage on St. Jean have lounges but they will cost you.

If we did want to go for the entire day, even before we were ready for lunch, does anyone know how much Nikki, Eden, or La Plage charge to use their beach and loungers? And does traveling during the low season (our trip is in less than two weeks) change any of these policies at these places?

La Gloriette, at Grand Cul de Sac, is the "budget" version of a relaxing restaurant-afternoon at the beach

La Plage charges, but for 10e each for chairs and umbrellas, you can walk 10 feet to the left and rent comfy chairs from Jean Michel the watersport guy. We go first thing in the am and stay for the day.

Just for clarification, I know IDF will let you use their loungers all day as long as you book your table for lunch when you arrive, My guess is that Taiwana would be the same, but again, it's better to check in advance.

We like La Plage, and we too rent beach chairs form the Watersports people.

last may we ordered the 8 person sushi boat at Nikki Beach...it was 600 Euros...after we barely finished, we wanted to hang out on the beach and digest...

not without another 40E for the beach chair after dropping a grand on lunch! we said no thanks and walked 1 minute to a private spot and relaxed...

La Plage is a little different than Nikki Beach. The beach is very narrrow and they need to be sure there are chairs and space on the beach for the Tom Beach Hotel guests.

Even when we stayed at Tom Beach we sat on Jean Michel's chairs. It is too crowded in front of La Plage for our taste. Depends on the time of year you go. St Jean can be very wide.

If you ask you pay. We always go to Guanahani, and they don't ask us and we don't tell. They give us 4 big orange hotel towels, chaises, umbrellas and spend the day there at no charge. The beach person sets it all up for us and cleans it up after we leave. They will bring drinks and food to your chaise, and run a tab. Bathrooms and changing rooms are wonderful and they have a big swimming pool and shower. We always have lunch at the Indigo and browse the shop which is quite nice. Parking is a breeze- keep going into the hotel toward the beach, down the hill and you will find parking lots on the way down. If you need to change Dollars for Euros, the Lobby always gives you spot rate and you don't need ID or be a guest there.
