PROVINCETOWN - The Blizzard of '14 has caused a significant breach in the north lot at Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown. The last second wind change that spared other areas sent waves crashing against and over the macadam revetment causing several pieces to crumble. As a result National Park Service rangers have cordoned off about two-thirds of the lot popular with locals and tourists alike for being able to motor in right to the water and watch beautiful sunsets. Plans are in the works to move the lot back some. It is not immediately known if the breach will accelerate those plans.

Meanwhile, DPW crews remain out on Sunday. The Provincetown crew at right was removing snow from Bradford Street allowing access to sidewalks for pedestrians and trying to open catch basins ahead of predicted rain to be followed by another arctic blast which will freeze everything solid.
