In Ohio, workers put up big numbers for the NFL

The factory produces 700,000 footballs a year, averaging about 4,000 a day. In northwestern Ohio, about 120 full-time workers are busy softening, steaming and sewing up the cowhide creations that will fly around every National Football League stadium in the country. Every game — from Thursday’s Ravens-Broncos opener in Denver to the Feb. 4 Super Bowl in East Rutherford, N.J. — will be played with handcrafted balls from the Wilson Football Factory in Ada, Ohio.
