    Replies

Previously, I could answer a post and it would show to whom I was responding. Now not so unless I quote the post. Is there any way to reinstate the old way?

If you place a check in the box in the top-right of the post you are replying, and then hit reply it will highlight the post and display it above your reply box.

What is the correct sequence to replying to a person? Hit the check mark upper right?

Hit the + reply to thread in blue located on upper right?

Finish writing and hit POST QUICK REPLY?

    and what is GO ADVANCED?

    Thank you

I'm having the same issue. I can highlight in yellow any post in the thread, but I don't see how one knows that's the post to which I'm replying unless I quote the previous post as I did above.

Well, let me try a few reply options.

This one I just clicked on "reply" from andys first post in the thread.
I do not see any marker that identifies who or which post I am replying to.
Just a reply to the ongoing thread.

So here I clicked "reply with quote"
    entire quote is placed above.

Let me look and see if there is a way to reply to the user without quoting their post.
    Might be an option/setting.

Still doesn't show to whom you are replying without a quote

as I am testing this it seems to make more sense this way....

In this thread there are multiple posts from a couple of users.
If I choose reply and it only shows something like (Replying to: Andy)

Then that could be one of several messages

but if I "reply with quote" then it is clear exactly what you are responding to.

I am looking to see if there is an option to reply like the old boards but not sure if it's available
    In response to XXXX

The Go Advanced reply option gives you some additional options for your reply.
    styling, video, linking, lists etc.

If I hit GO ADVANCED I see a box for TITLE-what title is that supposed to be? Do I use an old title or create my own title?

I think my comment/reply goes in the bigger rectangle area under that thin TITLE one above it.Still confused.

Also, to post do I hit above the box +Reply to Thread, Arrow Quick Reply or under the box the Post Quick Reply-too many choices. Please inform as to what is the purpose of each. Thanks so much. FYI-I am hitting Post Quick Reply to submit this.

If you use advanced reply you do not have to supply a "reply title"
You can if you want to. It will just add a title/headline to your reply.
See the post below - I used a reply title for it

Yes. Your reply to a post goes in the bigger box. The small title box is just if you want to add a title/headline to your reply.

To reply to a post you can choose "reply", or "reply with quote" in the lower left side of each post.

or at the top and bottom of each thread page there is a button to just "reply to thread". Same difference it is just another button for a general reply to the thread.

After you write your reply just click "post quick reply" and the message is posted

This is a post with a REPLY TITLE

It is not needed it is just an "advanced reply" option. :)
It just adds a headline to your reply.

    go advanced
add a post title (this post has one)
    add a list

Lists can be a good organization tool found in "Go Advanced"
    1. this is a list
    2. enter an item and then just hit return
    3. it will indent and number your points
    4. woo-hooo
    5. when you dont want the items to be in the list anymore hit enter and click the list button again...

Then your back to non list typing

Andy - Apparently Amy has the solution to this dilemma. I know it's low tech and all, but you just type the individual's name and we all know to whom you are replying:)

Hey Rich and Sue-Sometimes the old way is still cool and better yet, still works! Thanks for the endorsement.

    re: andy

I tried several options and asked the software company but it does not look like a quick fix.

    so reply with quote

or reply and add the users name in the title like I did on this post.

John, thanks for following up on all the little details. In time, this will become second nature. Now, I just need to hunt and peck and use trial and error-I hope I will eventually master all the nuances.

I am just hoping that we can get in the swing of things for posting when we get back to SBH next week. Luckily, Phil usually figures out most things pretty swiftly. (I am the luckiest girl in the world)!!
