this happens quite often here and some of these artifacts have had Viking roots..Cape Cod was actually initially named Cape Keel after a Viking expedition who lost their keel and had to repair it there...despite what we were taught in American History, Mayflower folks were far from the first....so when this happens, it peaks a lot of interest...

Part of an old ship was uncovered or washed up on Race Point Beach. There's no budget with the National Park Service to move this old remnant. This piece of history should be saved and would be a nice addition to the Visitor's Center. If anyone wants to pursue saving this artifact, contact CAGO Headquarters, George Price (508) 771-2144 X 7742.

two years ago in the middle of a really bad storm a local guy came across almost an entire side of a wooden ship washed up on the beach...it was Sunday and he couldn't get anyone from National Seashore or any where else to come out in the storm and pull it up away from the waves.....and the sea pulled it back out...but he grabbed a piece from it and found out its from the 17th century!!!
