Water for Elephants

I haven't seen an actual review here. Phyllis brought this home from the office and I starting reading it and couldn't stop. What a neat little book- from a retired old Veterinarian reliving his life in the circus to an old age home. Very poignant and funny. A real gem.

And well it should be. I just love the scenes and back and forth in the nursing home- the author did a lot of research. It's hysterical.

Very faithful to the book. I watched it on one of my four 8 hours flights this summer. Hal Holbrook is the octogenarian veterinarian.

Loved this book. Gruen's second novel, Ape House, did not get such great reviews. After reading the synopsis I decided it was not for me.

I LOVED this book---read it a couple of years ago here:

I have another circus-themed book for our upcoming trip, The Night Circus, which I mentioned in a previous topic---review to follow :)

It is funny how you remember where you read a book. I read Jurassic Park at Chez Francine
