61 Hours by Lee Child

This is another great book featuring Jack Reacher, a former military policeman who doesn't believe in owning anything more than the clothes on his back and a gun or two. I have read most of Child's books in the Reacher series and this may be the best one yet. Child doesn't hide the endings of his books with intricate plotting, but the powerful images he draws knock your socks off, even though you know pretty much what is coming. (One note for those who have read more than a couple of Child's books: Reacher does not get the crap kicked out of him at the beginning of this one.)

I don't know Dick- I got tired of a sullen vagrant with no source of income that always has money and solves major crimes. I know it's fiction but part fantasy too.

Jack Reacher is a wonderful fictional hero. I already have "61" on the pile for our July trip.

Lee Child's books don't last long in our house. Certainly not long enough to take on vacation.
