The deer population in our community has recently been "reduced" by sharpshooting and about 30 were sterilized. Big controversy in our little community. Personally, I love watching them and they do eat some things in the back yard, but we have tried to plant things they don't love. One night recently, I woke up at 3am and looked out the window straight into the eyes of a huge doe. I screamed so loudly, I thought the whole house would awake, but that doe just stood her ground.
Since Missy mentioned "critters," it reminded me of my trip down to visit my dad in a rural area this week. Tom and I were on our way out of town, back to the "city," and saw a van pull over to the side of the two lane highway. We both wondered why the driver walked across the road and then watched him bend over, pick up a dead raccoon by its tail (aka roadkill), walk back across the road and toss it in the back of his van...........SERIOUSLY!!!! We laughed all the way home guessing what the guy was going to do with it. Yum.
