Tinkers by Paul Harding

A little gem of a book-200 pages. Multi generational story told in a beautiful writing style. We are at the deathbed of a dying man and see thru his eyes some memories of his father's life, his own, and his son.

Some Pulitzer winners often do deliver a powerful story-this is one of them.

Tinkers refers to the job of his old grandfather-fixer of pots and pans etc who traveled around with a mule and cart.

Thanks, Amy. I'll definitely put it on my list. My Irish grandmother told me stories of the Tinkers--the walking people---who roamed Ireland.

It was also a job that the people known as ROMA performed. This TINKERS takes place in New England.

Right Andy. They travel Europe and were yet another group that the Nazis tried hard to wipe out. They still have a hard time surviving their wandering life style.
