Reflections on The Morning After Pink Floyd

Last night, Long Island rocked!

Phil and I attended the Roger Waters Pink Floyd THE WALL concert at the Nassau County Coliseum. In a word "spectacular!"

The crowd ranged in age from 20's to 70's. The fans were so up for the event. The building shook as the music swelled and the Wall was erected right before our very eyes. The pounding bass and the lighting and unique special effects all blended perfectly in what we used to call a HAPPENING. So much more than a concert-so much more than a theatrical show.

I was in awe of the band's electronic control panels and boards that took up a good third of the arena floor. We saw a flying plane crash the wall and burn, a pig circling overhead, and videos of lost loved ones and war heroes and war horrors and future hopes and future dreams unfold on the wall as if it were a TV or a movie screen. The colors. The lights. The noise and the MUSIC-incredible.

Yes Roger Waters has seen his voice diminish in its abilities-but he carried it off and sometimes sang along with his own performance from the 1979 show on view behind him. Remarkable.

Again, a night to remember. If this tour comes to your area-GO! THE WALL is unforgettable after you see it LIVE! WHEW-what a night.

Pictures to follow later.

wow...what a review! i'm happy that you and your beau got that experience last night! another memory made!! i'm looking forward to seeing the photos!

As promised, here are some of the pictures Amy took last night. This was truly one of the best shows we have ever seen. In fact, I think the word Spectacle better describes it. Between the music, the visual effects, the pyrotechnics and some awesome 3D effects, I found myself in sensory overload at times.

If you can still get tickets, I urge you to do so. This is really a once in a lifetime experience.

wow....he IS good, amy! phil, you are the man!

amy...those are awesome photographs. you really captured the energy of the show!

great job, you two. ya'll make a great team!

Great photos Amy and Phil! That looks like it would have been a fabulous show. Wish I was there ;)

What would make the show complete would be to see David Gilmour and Nick Mason there. We can always hope. Although I did read that David is going to join Roger for a single date during his 94-stop tour to perform Comfortably Numb.
