Pre-Katrina look at the vanishing (well, eroding) Louisiana bayous and the Cajuns that live there. I found it fascinating and at the same time, chilling.

I am enjoying the hell out of this book.....my former first mate who worked with me down there years ago and who is back down there running an oil skimmer boat, is also enjoying the hell out of this book

it's now with my third neighbor at the beach...i guess I'm glad that the erosion of the LA coastline is sorta getting a little attention....may be too late.

all in all, a fascinating book for those of us that like the coast.

I spent a lot of time in many of the litte Bayou towms he wrote about...worked a lot in Port Fourchon whjch is also talked about a lot in the book..and my former first mate now a captain is working his oil skimmer in Port Fourchon today and doing great Facebook updates from down there .....met some extraordinary people down on the bayous...I love em to death....real salt of the earth as the book so accurately portrays
