Announcing TastingRoom.com™: The First Online Wine Marketplace that Allows Consumers to Try Premium Brand Wines Before They Buy
Trefethen Family Vineyards, Grgich Hills Estate, Patz & Hall, Chateau Montelena Winery and DeLoach Vineyards All Innovating With TastingRoom Inc.’s Wine Product Sampling Kits

Unique Wine Tasting Kits from Popular Wineries such as Trefethen, Patz & Hall, Gundlach Bundschu, Talley, DeLoach and Grgich Hills Can Now be Delivered to the Front Door

May 3, 2010 – SANTA ROSA, California – Imagine what it would be like if you could move the tasting rooms of some of the world’s finest wineries into your living room. That’s the premise behind the new online marketplace TastingRoom.com. TastingRoom™ Inc., creators of innovative sample-sized (50ml) wines packaged in glass bottles and wine tasting kits, today announced the launch of TastingRoom.com, the first-ever website solely dedicated to both sampling and buying wine.

Initially, TastingRoom.com will offer nearly 40 different wines to sample and purchase from award-winning wineries, including Trefethen Family Vineyards, Patz & Hall, Gundlach Bundschu, Talley Vineyards, DeLoach Vineyards and Grgich Hills Estate. New wineries, wines and wine tasting kits will be added monthly. TastingRoom.com will first ship to California–the nation’s top wine drinking state–with rollout to additional states this summer.

Sample-sized Wines and Kits Bring Tasting Room to the Front Door
TastingRoom.com offers taste-sized samples of award-winning wines to deliver an authentic taste of branded offerings from prominent wineries, essentially bringing the tasting room to consumers’ doorsteps.

“In this economy we realize the importance of consumers having the opportunity of trying something before they buy it, and the same applies to wine,” said Tim Bucher, founder and CEO of TastingRoom Inc. and TastingRoom.com. “Just like music, wine is such a sensory and subjective product. Your friend may prefer Cab #1 while you may love Cab #3. TastingRoom.com’s wine tasting kits are a fun and unique way for you to figure out which you love best before you purchase a full bottle or case.”

The approachable and educational website is also a great resource for consumers who want to learn more about wines, wineries, and “how to taste” as well as food pairings and other wine-related information.

Try Popular, Premium Brand Wines Before You Buy
Visitors to TastingRoom.com will have the opportunity to purchase four- and six-pack wine sampling kits selected by each winery to give consumers a tasting flight similar to what would be poured at their tasting room bars. Wineries select the wines in each of their branded sample wine selection and theme each kit to showcase varietals, best sellers or exclusive releases.

Each winery offers a different mix. For example, buyers can choose from a single varietal of six different vineyards from one winery to a mixed selection of whites and reds from another.

Additionally, each winemaker creates a wine-tasting menu that provides a description of every wine, a recommended tasting order and wine making notes.

“Gundlach Bundschu has thrived for 150 years by embracing the future, and we believe this represents the future of wine tasting,” said Jeff Bundschu. “Short of visiting us in Sonoma, the TastingRoom.com packaging and web experience is the best idea we’ve seen to sample our wines to existing and future customers. As a small, family-owned winery, our wines can be hard to find and many people still don’t know our story. TastingRoom.com is an exciting opportunity for consumers to discover and experience wines like ours at their own discretion.”

Tasting kits will start at $9.99 for a four-pack sampler. To make follow-up bottle buys from the website even more palatable, every wine tasting kit is shipped with special promotions and offers.

The “Perfect Pour” of Wine

The quality of the wines received at home will remain as high as if they were poured seconds ago in a tasting room. The samples are bottled using TastingRoom Inc.’s innovative T.A.S.T.E. Technology™, which preserves the original flavor of the wine. TastingRoom Inc.’s patent-pending decanting process creates a perfect pour of wine in a mini glass wine bottle, replicating both the taste and look of the larger format bottle that the wine was originally transferred from. The result creates endless possibilities for the wine buyer, who can invite friends over and host wine-tasting parties or enjoy a four- or five-course meal at home, sampling wines along the way.

TastingRoom.com taps into the popularity of one of our nation’s favorite beverages, the consumption of which is at an all-time high. Even during the recession, the consumption of wine increased from 745 million total wine gallons consumed in 2007 to 767 million gallons in 2009, according to The Wine Institute.

Ristorante Panorama is an authentic Italian, trattoria-style, "upscale casual" restaurant located on the lobby level of the Penn's View Hotel. The cuisine is contemporary, authentic Italian with influence that leans toward the Northern Italian region and features homemade pastas, authentic veal dishes, and fresh seafood specialties. Lavish murals and decor provide a dramatic modern setting with traditional accents.

The central focus is on the unique wine bar, with its custom-built, 120-bottle wine keeper. It is our mission to incorporate the full potential of an extensive "by the glass" wine system into an unforgettable dining and tasting experience for each guest. Twenty-seven wine tasting flights are our most distinctive offering, featuring over 150 wines available by the glass, in tasting flights, and by the bottle on the "everyday" wine list (sample wine list) which changes every week! We feature over 530 vintages on the Proprietor's Reserve List (.pdf). On our everyday list, Panorama continually presents specially priced or themed flights and selections, both in the weekly rotation and on a year-round basis. We also host winemaker's dinners, portfolio tastings for the restaurant industry, charity events, and special dinners for auction winners

Close enough- Panorama happens to be the originator here because of its enormous Cruvinet but many have followed.

Perhaps to your front door, but I live in a state with archaic liquor laws.

P.S. Anything from Mike Grgich, local law aside, skip the samples and just send me a case.

Amen on Mike. After the VC I had some of his old vine Zin.
