Any fans? I love the lyrics... a true poet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30egIKHT-pM&a mp;fea...

One of my favorites. Hypnotic melodies and words. He's touring again this year and is in Durham, NC tonight. A poet - like you said.

I was never a big Redbone fan. His voice is so distinctive that I can only handle small doses.

Yeah, he's fine in small doses but I see his genius. His guitar play reminds me of Taj Mahal whom I like and can listen to for a long time.

Redbone is an acquired taste like scotch. Can't get used to him. Leon Russell is another one- great piano distinctive voice. Joe Cocker also comes to mind- "You Are So Beautiful".

Leon Russell is amazing....

Russell was Cocker's piano player when Cocker first started out. The concerts were fabulous. The last picture I saw of Russell he looked like father time.

Leonard Cohen - Great music. I can't listen to more than an hour, my taste.

Not to take away from this -

We are a few days from the rememberance of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior -

The Gordon Lightfoot version always is superb.

29 sailors died on Lake Superior with the Fitzgerald. It's always a day of mourning in the upper peninsula. Ya don't need an ocean to drown. (BTW, Lake Superior is a small ocean, with all its fun AND perils.)
