Pug, That didn’t take long. Hoping the gala was an overwhelming success for UNICEF. You and Mrs Pug look spiffy.

Lots of people worked very hard to set it up and the entire population in good spirits watched it grow in the sand and sacrificed a lot of serenity to support of this cause despite the construction and the overburdened traffic that was tolerated ‘in the place where it happened’ ..to paraphrase a line from HAMILTON.

    Same time next year?

I was told that more than likely it will take place next year but, probably much smaller so, perhaps back at Eden Rock.Name: IMG_0531 (1).jpg

The rent for the former Emeraude Plage property which was used for this event was donated to two local orbanizations. From Le Journal, as translated by Google:

While the amount of donations collected during the LuisaViaRoma gala auction for Unicef on December 29 was not disclosed by the organizers, the commitment made by the owner of the land in Saint-Jean (also owner of the Le Barthélemy hotel) where the evening took place has already been held. Indeed, the promise had been made to donate the amount of the rental to environmental associations in Saint-Barthélemy. It was Coral Restoration, chaired by David Blanchard, and Island Nature Experience, chaired by Rudi Laplace, who benefited from these donations, the total amount of which is 50,000 euros. Coral Restoration recovers 30,000 euros and Island Nature Experience (INE) 20,000. “We will decide on the allocation of this sum in the coming months but it is sure that it will help us”, commented Rudi Laplace for INE. "We are happy to reinvest locally," said the donor. It was the director general of Barthélemy, Sébastien Maingourd, who handed over the donations to the heads of the two organizations on Wednesday, January 25.
