Sargassum? Events?

Any update on the beaches? We leave Monday and we couldn’t be more excited. Haven’t been in 4 years. It will be our first time on island with a family of 4 adults. Time has flown by. Hoping the last round of Sargassum is gone. Any August Fete events we should check out? We are normally Junies or 4thers.

I hope that you’ll be there for Fete du St. Barthélemy — August 24. Always great fireworks & other events.

August 20 is the Fete in Flamands, and as Dennis notes the 24th is the Fete de St Barthélemy on the main dock in Gustavia.
The beach in Grand Cul de Sac looked better on Sunday but the seaweed comes and goes... still a lot in Anse des Cayes I hear...

Yes, we will be there for both of those events. Ellen you will have to give us the local scoop on how to navigate parking, times to go and what we shouldn’t miss. Sounds fun!

Will do, and happy birthday, we'll celebrate when you get here!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! It was a hot muggy day in San Diego. May end of up becoming a tropical destination. So much to celebrate with you Ellen! Sorry to miss you guys too, Amy and Phil.

Ouch.

horrible

I sure hope they come up with a plan to harvest and make use of this crap!

AND SOON! From Texas to Florida and Mexico and the islands in Caribbean...this sucks.

We swam in St. Jean on Pelican Beach side early Sunday and there was no sargassum. Sure came in fast and furious!

It changes daily depending on winds and currents and whims of Mother Nature.

My advice is to be flexible and if necessary get back on the road and head to an unsullied beach.
