Sure. Only 5.3 million people have died but total over reaction. We don't know - yet - how Omicron will play out. If the world won't take a pause of sorts to figure it out then we will run the risk of making things worse down the road.

Omicron hasn't killed a single person yet, instead it's actually been fairly mild. Still very early on, but positive signs so far.

this thread might age badly. its too early to know how many people will die from omicron. seems to be the fastest spreading variant yet, and even if its far less severe than delta, many people could die from it due to lack of immunity, as past infection and vaccination is far less protective than for previous variants. lets hope its a nothing burger, but it could easily be serious as in a few weeks many millions will be infected.
the data from Denmark and the UK will show us what its really like, as those countries have really good virus surveillance capability. plan for the worst and hope for the best.
