. . . a bravura performance on a perfect evening!
I only was able to get the 9 PM seating, but it worked out beautifully — nothing was rushed, & the dining room almost smiled with its very satisfied complement of “local” & visiting guests. At dinner’s conclusion, moreover, I was briefly joined by the restaurant’s visiting chef & a mutual friend. (The hotel’s chef already had gone home.)
As I wrote about my similarly magnificent Festival at L’Esprit, images of the evening’s food & drink speak for themselves.
Following a properly chilled & served vodka gimlet
. . . the first course was red tuna, with mezcal aguachile, lime, & cilantro
. . . which was served with a glass of
Second course . . . Spaghetti with pistachio & marinated radish bits (the restaurant’s staff recalled my GF & DF limitations & very kindly passed this info to the chefs, who accommodated)
My evening wine of choice was an extraordinary Brunello di Montalcino, Pieve Santa Restituta 2012 . . . truly one of the top wines I’ve ever tasted!
Following was a course of “pizzaiola style” cod . . . tender & flaky, seemingly very fresh
. . . and a tour de force crispy chicken brioche with caviar and seaweed
Winding down to a final offering before dessert, there were sugar coated jellied candies (“pâté de fruits”)
. . . with a dessert of Mandarin & raspberry compotes, thoughtfully topped with merengue, in lieu of ice cream.
A stunning evening.
