I will feel more comfortable about visiting the little rock in February if I am able to get a booster shot this fall

Perhaps those resisting are just too young to become grandparents, as there are many protections to be afforded those little ones without defenses.

Exactly. Or they don't have grandparents or elderly parents. My fear for my parents - not myself - guides all my choices.

Probably true. But the good news is that 74% of those 12 and older in the U.S. have at least one shot (and 64% are fully vaccinated) The holdouts are fortunately (for the health of everyone) slowly becoming a real minority. At some point hopefully - absent a terrifying mutation that completely breaks through the vaccines efficacy against serious disease and death - we can legitimately let everyone make their own decisions and not have those decisions endanger others.

Unless they die or become long COVID suffering. That’s a little different than being vaccinated.

Oh, even the former guy was vaccinated after a very serious and very public case of COVID-19.

Interesting that the non-injected (supposedly unprotected) are unworried, whereas the injected (supposedly protected) are worried.

As far as « letting everyone make [his or her] own decision », I thought that was what we already did with personal health decisions in our republic.

perhaps some are desirous of usurping those civil liberties. but others, I can assure you, have no intention of relinquishing them.

It's always those most vocal about their liberties who are least likely to accept the responsibilities which come with them.

I can understand some degree of vaccine hesitancy when a new product first becomes available but almost 6 billion doses have been given worldwide. If there were going to be major problems with the vaccine we would have seen it by now. It's time for the holdouts to look at the data with reason rather than emotion and admit the vaccine is a marvel of modern medicine and either get the shot or at least stop trying to force their wrong headed opinions on others. If you don't like wearing a mask you really won't like being on a ventilator.

upon what data do you base your assumption ? an emotional decision rather than a reasoned one.

Ask Google how many doses have been given. It's 5.9 Billion. One in every 500 Americans have died from Covid so far with many more dying every day, almost all unvaccinated. It's time to admit the vaccine works and saves lives.

BTW when the Swine Flu was around in 1976 and President Ford ordered all Americans to get vaccinated I refused. It was a bad vaccine. This is a completely different story and it's time to admit it and either get the shot or keep quiet.

yes, I follow CV data every day. the question is, upon what tangible data do you base your assumption that the decision not to be injected is an emotional one and not a reasoned decision.

Because I have asked you for your reasons in a previous post for not being vaccinated and you refused to answer. Maybe you know something I don't?

yes, that was iJEK's subtle nudge. that we all be "done with this thread". John, that's your cue to lock it down, since it seems to have gone astray.

It's funny you should say that. With the sewage in Cul de Sac, parking deck St Jean, and other development projects going on around the Island St Barts has lost much of the charm that I have come to love over the (many) years I have been going there. My wife and I are going to be taking our travels to the Greek Isles. They have friendly people, great beaches, and wonderful restaurants. I'm afraid St Barts time has past for those of us who have been fortunate enough to love it during the last three decades.

    They've paved paradise...put up a parking lot.
