INVISIBLE MAN by Ralph Ellison

Written in 1947 and reading it was like reading a current morning paper or watching the evening news.

Winner of the National Book Award and still poignant as people seek freedom and equality and justice.

A friend in education has used this as one of the books that he pairs in his courses with To Kill A Mockingbird, which has come up in another thread. Others he has used are the well-known Autobiography of Malcolm X (as told to Alex Haley) and the lesser-known If He Hollers Let Him Go by Chester Himes.

In my life I have seen and met wonderful, creative, marvelous teachers. I have also known members of school boards.
