Here is my understanding of the testing situation, as of 2:19 and 33 seconds on 11/12/20 * (presented for confirmation). * May be subject to change at any moment.
Whether visitors arrive via SJU of SXM, evidence of a negative PCR test, within 72 hours (3 days) of arrival on SBH, is required.
If a visitor is staying longer than 7 days, an additional "on island" test is required on day+7, so, for example, arrival on a Friday with a stay longer than 7 days would require testing, at the island lab, on the following Friday? If day+7 falls on a Sunday, when the lab is closed, testing would be on the next available day the lab is open? Currently, the testing hours are M-F, 12-1 and Saturday, 9-10. UPDATE***** a/o 11/13. 4 pm est. ********* day+7 test not longer required.*****
For a visitor departing via SXM, while the SXM COVID site info suggests 72 hour test results are required, even if "in transit," it does not appear that people transiting through SXM are being required to show tests results (at the moment).
Departing via SJU does not require any testing evidence (at the moment).
However, it appears that reentry to the U.S. (through New York anyway), and to various states throughout the U.S., (even for "state to state" travel) now requires testing or quarantine upon arrival for up to 14 days. Some states are requiring quarantine, even with a negative PCR test, however, it would seem that with a negative test requirement to enter (at least parts of) the U.S., that would somewhat diminish the testing question risk for "in transit" SXM travel, since one would need a test anyway.
There is now rapid testing available at some airports, e.g. JFK, however, it is not clear if the testing sites are set up for arrivals and departures. Also, it is a rapid test which may or may not be acceptable for some locations.
Kevin just posted about the possibility of SBH airport testing, but the details on that are murky at the moment.
