    Re: Attempt at trip report

Wow. You were kind, but your experience speaks words to me about Turbe. In my experience, Gumbs would be a better choice.

As Ellen noted, the Christmas Truck is a thing. To add some context, Chant Noel is a thing, with traditional Christmas songs being sung around the island. The truck is a mobile version of the Chant...

    I’m tempted.

    Very tempted.

    I may even do it.

However my recent move has made me very aware of just how much (too much!) Veuve Clicquot merch that I have.

    But personalized…

I'm with Eve on this one.

    Restos23 Preliminary

As we get closer to high season, more of us are traveling this year. I don't usually put out a preliminary Resto List update this early, but I think that it is time to do so.

    On my recent...

Yes, the SBH firefighters and the SNSM work together, and train together.

The boat fire was back in February maybe?
  10. Sainte-Barbe, Patron Saint of French Firefighters

In France, Sainte-Barbe is the Patron Saint of firefighters.

Today is an annual celebration of Saint Barbe by firefighters all over France. In St Barth, as in many locations throughout France,...

Re: Chez Francine- a blast from the past

Pre-Luis, we spent a lot of time at Chez Francine. We have many memories of the restaurant and of La Grand Valerie. We also spent a lot of time at Le Bamboo, the restaurant next door.

For all four tests (2 each x twice) we waited no more than a minute for a proctor, and the same after the 15-minute waiting time while the test actually did its thing.

Thanks for the ongoing trip report.

As to the scallops, I ran into the same 3-count at Tamarin. 3 scallops isn't a meal, it's the start of a meal, and a 4th scallop would have made it much...

    I don’t know about ownership.

Pre-Irma, they were associated with Maman out of NYC, at least for the restaurant. https://www.mamannyc.com/ I’m told that there is still an association.

The Tropical has been rebuilt as a larger hotel, with a larger restaurant. I think that the hotel is soft-open now, but the restaurant is still hotel guests only.
