    Re: The Easy Path

I'm late to this, but yes and yes!! Just an American Kestral, which is a type of falcon. This one is female. The one in the newspaper clipping from JEK is a male.

Re: First visit - couple of questions

Tradewind is crazy expensive when compared to St. Barts Commuter and Winair, but the total cost of airfare might be close if you fly Tradewind. In other words, your flight from the US may be cheaper...

    Re: It's a yacht

I'd certainly take it if Roman wanted to give it away, but the lack of windows on A has always struck me as a little weird.

I mean, when I'm chillin' in my luxury suite eating the finest Russian...

    Re: Ain't no fish!

Mother not grandmother. She also went to a Catholic school and went to church every day, so maybe it was just a local thing in that area, or maybe they were particularly strict.

    Re: Ain't no fish!

Back when my 85 year old mother was a kid, the rules were: No meat for all of Lent, no food (aka fasting) on Fridays. Good for weight loss, I'm sure.
  13. Re: Dejeuner - where shall we dine?

This might be too late for your trip, but why are you doing lunch at General Quartier? Why not do dinner there instead? I only ask because there is no view and not a particularly great daytime...

Is that a Red tailed hawk?!?! (don't have my field guide with me, and I'm surprised to see a big bird like that, what ever it is!)

Great photos Izzy! Were they from a real camera or a phone? They look too good to be from a phone.

Re: WHAT is going on in Saline?

This looks like the area to the right of the top of high point on the path when you're leaving the beach. In December there was some action going on there, but you couldn't see it or hear it from...

  20. Re: Victoria Opens - Used to be Buccaneer, etc. in Gustavia

Well, one of them can be ordered and served within seconds with a simple bottle opener. With a cocktail, depending on the complexity, it could have 10 or more ingredients and 10 different steps in...

  22. Re: USBC Preclearance coming to SXM!

This will be great, but if you have Global Entry, you already breeze through Customs and Immigration in the US. And if you have checked bags, the time you'd spend in line waiting to show your...

Re: Dinner for our last night

    Thanks for the recap!

What happened at Aux Amis? Usually when you have awful service, you're annoyed with the waitress, not sympathetic toward her.
  24. Re: Which parts of island get less breeze?

Maybe you should call the villa rental companies and ask. Someone must have had this question before (or the opposite one......."we want breezes!")

Re: Hotel for a Wedding Reception

Don't know your time line or budget (but if your friend is considering a hotel on SBH, I imagine the budget is large!), but I've see pictures of what Eden Rock/the Sandbar does and it looks amazing.
  26. Re: Which parts of island get less breeze?

Maybe go for a western facing villa too. A few years ago I visited some friends who were staying above Corrosol and while they had nice views of the harbor, they mentioned that it got very warm...

  28. Re: type of car to rent based on terrain?

Put me down as a Jimny fan too. It may be the lowest priced rental on the island (at Gumbs anyway) and that's a big selling point with me! ;-)

Also, the roof opens up which is nice
  29. Re: type of car to rent based on terrain?

Don't worry about ruts or anything like that. The roads are probably in the best condition they've ever been in the history of the island! Most are in excellent condition. The ones that aren't are...

    Re: Bohemian Rhapsody

I thought it was infinitely better than A Star Is Born in every way......story, music, emotional impact. If you can still find it on the big screen, see it there!
  35. Re: FORUM History Introductory Course 101

Why can’t this be accurate and true regardless of the release date of Paradise Found?
