  1. Re: Discounted Price for my Photo Book "St. Barth Souvenirs"

Wonderful news - I didn't realize your book was on Amazon. I ordered mine as a Christmas gift and it arrives tomorrow.
  2. Re: Looming St Jean Project Concerns: Emeraude Plage

Pearl Beach also has underground parking. Does anyone know if this has caused environmental issues on St. Jean beach?
  3. Re: Resto recommendations for impromptu dinner at the bar

We've dined at the bars at Bonito and Nikki Beach when we couldn't get a reservation and both offered full menus. Bonito's bar has great service and an amazing view. We love seafood, especially...

  7. Re: First Night Dining Recommendation (Les Bananiers or Le Repaire)

The smoking at Le Repaire in late July/early August was unbearable.

I would also consider eating at the bar at Bonito and enjoying a cocktail, a few ceviches and a great view of the harbor....

    Re: Le Barthelemy or Manapany

That wasn't our experience. In early August we spent a splendid day at the spa and pool and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Le Barthelemy. At that time, the water was not so clear. Sargassum-related,...

    Re: Le Barthelemy or Manapany

You mentioned luxury a few times. Le Barthelemy is absolutely splendid and (IMHO) more luxurious than Manapany. That being said, it is a further drive from St. Jean and Gustavia and it's on a murky...

    Re: Kudos for Orega

Hello everyone. This well-deserved review for Orega is from the NYT 36 Hours in St. Barts article. It's a fun read. We had a splendid meal at Orega in March and again in early August. Each experience...
  14. Re: Le Toiny Restaurant Change - Jarad at Le Toiny

I wonder if they haven't posted their new menu yet. The menu hasn't changed since our last trip and seems odd that they would rebrand the restaurant with the same menu.

The storms were intense overnight and reminded me of an expression from when I was a kid in Philly - "God is bowling." We slept in until a luxurious 9:30. The "kids" made a run to Petite Colombe...

    Re: Nikki Beach question

p.s. The wine prices are cheaper in July than during high season. We had a lovely rose' for 49 euros that wasn't on the menu in March. Cocktails prices were the same ranging from 16-18 euros.

    Le Toiny for Dinner?

  24. Re: Another Night, Another Dinner. Where Was This One?

New tables lamps! They weren't there in March. I had a discussion with Eddy about how his son wanted to replace his traditional chandeliers with more modern lighting.
  25. Re: Another Night, Another Dinner. Where Was This One?

The only place I remember that places wine glasses upside down is Eddy's, although I don't recall salt and pepper shakers there. The red seat cover is reminiscent of Black Ginger.

  29. Re: After st barts can you really go anywhere else?

I so agree. St. John is the Garden of Eden and far less developed than St. Barth thanks to its national park status. We considered both STJ and SBH for our summer trip and I would have been thrilled...

Re: Parking Lots Become Pay Lots Again 7/16

My sentiment, exactly. I forget the hours, but you only need to pay for parking until 8:00 p.m. or so. This means parking for dinner is only a few euros or free depending on when you dine.

This is great news. It was impossible to find parking in Gustavia while the lot was free. Cars sat in the lot for extended periods without paying.
