  5. Re: No Testing Required for the Vaccinated to Enter SXM after November 1, 2021

The benefit to vaccinated SBH travelers if all else remains the same is a greater window to get EHAS approval.

Unless SBH does similarly and no longer requires a test, you still have to manage...
  6. No Testing Required for the Vaccinated to Enter SXM after November 1, 2021

See this FB post. It doesn't appear that the websites are updated yet. Wondering if SBH will also move in this direction?

Loved it how it was except the rest rooms. Hoping that is improved. And we will still be stopping by, even it its a little fancier.

Re: Specific Testing Question - Swab Type

Thanks Jim, it’s reassuring to know people are getting through SXM with anterior swabs.

Agree it’s ridiculous. Given how much testing is occurring and health worker shortages, how can they expect...

Woo hoo! Sounds like you made it. Can’t wait to see you guys.
  13. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

Actually antigen tests are more likely to report false negative results than false positive when correctly administered. They’re also most accurate detecting COVID in symptomatic individuals. If...
  14. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

The CVS website allows you to check all their location near you and what tests are available at each. When I looked last night they were only allowing you to schedule 13 days. Yours may be...

Thanks again for the blow by blow of your process. Hoping everything goes smoothly for the 3 of you on your trip.

Now we are all looking forward to the REAL trip report...ON ISLAND version!!
  16. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

Depends on where you go. CVS only allows scheduling 13 days in advance. We have a medical lab here that offers guaranteed timed results for a fee and I could schedule tests for late November there.
  17. Re: Best way to arrive given covid requirements?

Yes to the antigen tests for both SXM and SBH.

This is why I was wondering why everyone is getting PCRs. They are taking so long to come back that their 72 time frame is really not worth it. If...

Re: Specific Testing Question - Swab Type

Thanks Eve. We have several options for both PCR and antigen with an anterior swab but yet to find a nasopharyngeal option. I’d rather have the first anyway.

Re: Specific Testing Question - Swab Type

The difference is how far up they go. The nasopharyngeal is waaaaay up and anterior is an inch, often self administered.

Specific Testing Question - Swab Type

Very grateful for Eve’s pre-trip report of traveling in the COVID era but started a separate thread to ask this specific question.

I saw on the St. Martin EHAS site that they require test results...

  22. Re: Best way to arrive given covid requirements?

For us its the simple fact that SJU is still a 2 leg flight for us. If we had a direct to SJU then Tradewinds is a no-brainer.

And while I am sure it is lovely and very convenient, I never felt...

Eve, this is so helpful. Also I am in the same boat with my name...changed it to one word in my teens and added a middle initial after I was married. Some 30 years later, I *think* I have just about...

    Re: Pre-trip Report

Thanks Eve! Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

I am wondering about PCR versus antigen. Why do PCR if the results take so long? I know it’s more accurate but the antigen tests seem far...

Thank you....I have been reading up on this and I have to say they are making it as convoluted as possible. I need a flowchart....

    Re: Current requirements

Don’t you have to complete an online form for St. Martin? Coming and going I believe.
  29. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

Thank you for posting this! We were considering a home test but then thought it wouldn't work. A co-worker has used Pixel where you mail in the sample. Has anyone done one of these for SBH?
  30. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

My secretary flew to Canada a few weeks ago. She got her test at CVS and had a back up appointment for a $200 guaranteed in 30 minutes one. Got the CVS results in a day and cancelled the other...
  31. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

From the date/time of the test. That's why getting the results in time is so critical.
  32. Re: Where are forum members going for the Covid test in the US?

I am also interested in this question. Like others we are planning on a large drugstore chain.

Because our schools require testing for close contacts to return to class, we’ve noted that the...

  34. Re: You can buy this, or go to Staples and they will laminate for free!

Pre-COVID I used to go to a bunch of conferences every year...so I have a ton of those plastic namebadge holder. They work perfectly for the vax card. You can get them online anywhere.

    Re: Vaccinated and arriving

We've spent several Thanksgivings in paradise and would often do Maya's for dinner. Alas, no more.
If we didn't do Maya's we just cooked a bird when we got home.
