Lunch and Beach Chair access...when and where?

We plan to go to a few differnt hotels for lunch over the next week for lunch and then beach. Mainly the IDF, Sand Bar at Eden Rock, and Guanahani. If I remember correctly all three of these off free access to their beach chairs and beach service if you have had a reservation for lunch that day. What days are good or bad or indifferent for each? We don't mind crowds or events like fashion shows as long as we have taken care of a reservation and do not have to wait. That said there is certainly nothing wrong with a very quiet lunch and beach scene. We are here (staying at EMM) until next Saturday so looking for plans for the coming week.

Eden Rock usually does not unless you have stayed there before and they recognize you.

Quelle horreur ! IDF, Eden Rock, Guanahani...I've heard they rake the sand at all three of those establishments!

Not a hotel but we really enjoyed Do Brazil on our last trip. If you order food/drinks the chairs and umbrellas are included. They have a lighter fare menu (salads and paninis) for lunch. We ate lunch and then moved down to the beach chairs for the afternoon. They kept the drinks coming including the rhum vanille :)

The last two years we have paid $90 euro (for 2) to rent a beach chair at Eden Rock. Money well spent in our opinion. Drink service, snacks - a break for lunch at the Sand Bar and back out to the lounger for an after-lunch rest on a beautiful beach. You have to get there early if you're not a guest of the hotel, but we've had no issues if we get there around 10 am. I like a full service beach!

I agree!

90e to rent 2 beach chairs when you are already having lunch there ? that's nuts. La Langouste on Flamands let's you use beach loungers if you eat there.

Supply and demand, mon ami. Taking lunch and reserving a transat for all day long are really two different things, though 45 euros is a bit high in my experience. I think the transats at the more chic clubs on Plage de Pampelonne go for more like twenty-something euros...but then a bottle of Clos Beylesse Rosé Bleu goes for le prix odieux of 70 euros at Les Palmiers and only 54 euros at Eden Rock.

Last summer ER had a lunch special that included the chairs. That was really nice. They are the most comfortable beach chairs on the face of the earth. Not sure if they have that deal this summer.

I do like ER's beach chairs when you're a guest of the hotel. The service is much more than just a chair and an umbrella.

It's Evian as soon as you sit. Fruit kabobs mid morning. A late morning cocktail. A bite to nibble on a little later if one doesn't care for a Sand Bar lunch. All with an umbrella and WiFi. Did I mention the view?

this is all we need....you can keep all the rest...

[h=2]Things to do in Saint Barth[/h]

1. Spend money like it is your own. It is.
2. Do what you like, when you like. It is your vacation.
3. Eat what you want, when and where you want. It is your waistline and (see #1)
4. Drink what you want when you want. If your spouse likes red and you like white, buy one bottle of each. Life is short.
5. Stay in a villa, hotel, or a hole-in-the-wall depending on your whim, desire or see #1.
6. Cook in your villa (if a villa is your desire) if you want to. Go out for dinner if you like.
7. Plan ahead at least a day for dinner, or don't. Experience flexibility.
8. Go to a beach everyday, or stay by the pool at your hotel/villa.
9. Watch US TV at every opportunity, or not. It's your vacation.
10. Seek out the places that sell days-old New York Times, or current Times Fax. Do the crosswords, or don't.
11. Bring you laptop and surf the web morning, noon and night. Or leave it behind.
12. Make sure your cell has international roaming and call your homebound friends whilst splashing in the surf to engender envy. Or leave the cell at home.
13. Charge everything on your AmEx knowing that you are getting ripped off, or use your debit card at an ATM and pay cash.
14. Wake up extra early and be the first in line at the boulangerie and bring back bread for your spouse. Or take your spouse out for breakfast.
15. Bring your iPod and speakers, or listen to the local FM station.
16, Always rent a manual 4WD, or an automatic if you are more comfortable.
17. Bring hairdryers, curling irons and other instruments of torture, or go with the humid breezes.
18. Tip for meals, maids and massages, or not. See #1.
19. Research your villa/hotel selections and gain consensus that you have the best-of-the-best, or book on a whim and enjoy the surprise.
20. When you arrive, take off your shoes, take a deep breath and become one with the island, or head out to Match for some shopping.
21. Ride a bike, go for a run or go for a walk. Or, be a beach potato.

absolutely...viva la difference.....if the vast majority of people liked desserted beaches...
we wouldnt have desserted beaches!!!!:nightmare:

so thankfully - its all very symbiotic the way it works

although #14 should have "or freeze your bread and have it the next day " added to it:devillaugh:

Jean Michel, of St Barts Windsurfing on St Jean, rents chairs 10 feet away from Tom Beach for 10e per chair and umbrella.
Best deal on the island if you ask me. Considering 10 feet away they are crowded and 5x the price.
