Looks like someplace new is opening in Villa Créole in St Jean :

After a lot of hard work, passion, and shared enthusiasm... the ATELIER is finally opening its doors

La Villa Créole

Saint Jean

just a few steps from Saint Jean Beach.

OPEN EVERY DAY FROM 8:00 AM TO 3:00 PM

A space designed as a natural extension of my world.

Here you’ll find my sweet creations, of course, but also a selection of savory dishes inspired by the seasons and my own creativity:

My Grazing Platters—available to take away or order in larger sizes,

My Tramezzini and salads, bursting with freshness and color.

Refreshing drinks: Floral waters and matcha tea, Ube, iced coffee

A spontaneous cuisine, where the harmony of colors matches that of flavors, and where each carefully selected ingredient remains essential, with a predominantly plant-based signature.

Wow, we are on the island now till Saturday the 23rd. Are they open for biz now? would like to give it a try before we leave.

Opens on the 28th of May apparently - not in the old Peter McCool space - that is MAPO, which is doing very well - Salsa music there this Friday night - I will try and see which space CHARLY'S is in .. there is another food spot there now as well, complete with a kosher section!

There’s a very nice little coffee and pastry spot tucked in towards the back now that I hadn’t been to before. The woman working the counter this morning kindly obliged my DuoLingo French attempt and the coffee was just what I needed while my travel companions shopped.

L’Oiseau Cacao?

Checked it out today, Ellen . . . as one faces Mapo, Charley’s — only a glimmer in someone’s eye at the moment — is immediately to the left.

As you can see, it’s not obvious what it’ll look like. I understand from local conversation that it’ll primarily be a bar . . . definitely not a restaurant in competition with Mapo (which seems to be doing very well).

I really enjoyed Mapo - glad to hear it's doing well. Charley's is such a funny name for an establishment in Villa Creole, but then again, so was Peter McCool. Something to look forward to.

Looks like the old Epicerie du Gout which I had some nice breakfasts a couple years ago. Was not very reliable as the Owner opened when he felt like it.

Actually, the Epicerie du Gout is still there . . . In the corner to left of Charley’s. And I agree that the hours there are very irregular!

if you look at the Charly website, the owner makes some lovely - if expensive - grazing boxes.... wonder if she'll sell, or take orders for those there as well - looks like a lot of work to finish in the next week...
