When we were on island in late May, early June, there was a lot of conversation and concern from our local neighbors, and family around the pond in Saline that the restoration project slated to begin there to restore dunes in Saline was using fill from the pond dredge project in Saint Jean. The concern was primarily targeted towards the quality and cleanliness (potential for toxins, pollutants) that could reside in the materials they were using to reconstruct the dunes. No one seemed to know the answer. I still don't. Yesterday's Le News http://online.fliphtml5.com/yshv/olmi/ had a one page article interviewing the individual in charge of the project, explaining the technique he plans to use to re-establish the dune line. The technique includes we understand, bringing in fill dirt from...

We just came back flying SBC to and from SXM. Things were efficient and quicker than "normal." The only downside is that the departure tent is pretty bleak with barely enough seating and only a handful of places to buy anything. If you're flying home from SXM I recommend buying food at SBH and taking with you.

I have to admit I gave that a thought when my wife and I were the only two on the flight with the pilot from SBH to SXM. I wasn't sure who would try to land the plane.

I bring my guy to SBH via SJU, from Canada (however US requirements are similar so you should double check obviously). from Canada the requirements are: - Microchip and 1 year rabies required (no other shots mandatory, however since its Caribbean, your own vet may recommend other vaccines). Totally ridiculous is that Puerto Rico mandates the 1 year vaccine, even though 99% of vets in Canada and the USA administer the 3 year vaccines. NOTE: the rabies vaccine MUST be given after the microchip is inserted. - Your vet completes the CFIA (USDA equivilent) International Health Certificate (must be completed within 5 days of travel as per St Barts rule, PR itself requires 30 days) - you take the Certificate to CFIA and they stamp it. The Federal Agency does NOT inspect the animal.

Ok, can someone please start a new thread where all the crazy people can share their comments? Oh, that's right.........that has been happening here for years already. Asking a potential person in need of mental health assessment to organize their musings to a specific thread on a travel forum has to be one of the best ideas I have heard recently. Unbelievable.

I did not say the whole discussion, but if you have actually read a lot of what was posted on that thread, not everything was about the weather. and chris was not on the island most of the time when he posted about the weather and other things. so why do you care whether I am on the island or not Dennis, I gave an accurate weather report. I understand that chris is a good friend of yours Dennis, but when I commented. my comment was about whether chris's mental health should be disclosed on a weather report. I don't believe it should have been. If you enjoy that thread, then by all means Dennis, you should continue it. I think you and Chris have a lot in common. You may like that thread and others may like it, but many do not like it and say nothing. I voiced how I felt...

Diana . . . I don’t understand your obsession with seeking to move a discussion thread from one Forum category to another. Why is it necessary to move a series — 10 pages — to a different category simply because the thread’s initiator reveals to us that he won’t be able to maintain postings in it? . . . and candidly explained the reason, with respect to which you seem to be quite insensitive. Has it occurred to you that others might continue the thread? (I think that you today posted a weather report for SBH, without even being on the island.). It seems like your desire to move the series elsewhere is quixotic — unless you have been anointed as a monitor of such things. What’s your mission here? I don’t think that Chris “ over a whole section of the forum.” It has been interesting...

KevinS, THANK YOU - That's it!!! That is logo is the type of thing I like. If you know what it is, then you get it. If not, it is something that is interesting, but you don't know why. I will definitely reach out to them... but in the meantime, if anyone will be in SBH, and is willing to pick a couple up, please let me know. KJ

the part that was mentioned about someone being in a mental health facility does not belong in the weather section and should be moved elsewhere. if you think mental health issues belongs in the weather section kimberly, then that would be your opinion which you are entitled to. I also do not think anyone has the right to take over a whole section of the forum which was happening in the intriguing weather thread on storm tracker. That is also just my opinion.

I think everyone should keep their opinions to themselves regarding these recent posts especially in-light of widely published accounts of loss of well known celebrity figures who apparently had some sort of mental health issues which I am not agreeing to is the case here. Have a little decency please if the posters resent musings are legit. We all can do better than this. I was in no way bothered by Chris, or anyone for that matter, enlightening me regarding SBH info which I always ended up finding to be legit (in his reporting) or, for his weather updates which took time to research and seemingly were heart felt and of interest to him and others like myself. kr

Hi all, Only 1/2 the Jake's were able to visit SBH this year as the oldest Jake Kid was busy with college auditions. She and I received daily reports from the front about the changes and 'challenges' on the island. However, until last Monday, I always had a piece of SBH with me when I drove. That is until a 'distracted driver' used my car to stop rather than his brakes. He hit my car so hard that insurance totaled it. As a part of that totaling, I lost one of my favorite stickers of all time. However, I am embarrassed I cannot recall the shop who sells the sticker. It is/was the plan form of an overwing plane (Islander) landing at SBH. May I throw myself to the mercy of the forum to buy a few of the black on white oval stickers on my behalf. I would be happy to send $ via...

Autonomous flying taxis, being tested for certification in New Zealand, will be well suited for the SXM-SBH run... Boeing and Airbus are among the companies working toward self-piloted flight on small and large scales. The first steps may be single pilot cargo then commercial flights while people have time to learn to trust AI.
