The text from the diagnostic company was all we had as I had no where to print it off as we were on route. At St Bart’s airport he just looked at the text and checked our temperature

Definitely a major change, but probably for the best to have the airlines and ferries responsible for enforcement if the island doesn't believe their customs agents have the bandwidth for it. I assume they also quickly realized that their testing capacity was too limited to potentially handle 50%+ of all arrivals. In the long run, while I have a LOT of anxiety about getting test results in time, I also feel more confident staying on the island knowing that this rule is actually being enforced. I was alarmed last night to hear about passengers arriving without any enforcement of the negative PCR test. If we're going to open up for tourism, let's at least make it as risk-averse as possible.

Belinda, Did you have a paper document proving that the test was negative? Or did you have a text message or email on your phone? What kind of proof qualifies? Thanks.

1)I arrived July 1st Phl to SJU onto St. Bart’s. Had the Covid test done in the US before I left and panicked because It hadn’t come the morning of departure. However it came once we arrived in SJU phewwwww. In SJU there is a load of officials doing the Covid test right there with 10 min results. 2) the island is fantastic, as it always is. Some of the shops are closed because there’s not many tourists here yet but the restaurants are open and they are looking forward to serving you good food.. come and enjoy, PS had a fantastic meal at Zion and Tamerin....

If Cheval Blanc and Eden Rock are benchmarks, do we think prices at Guanahani will increase considerably to accommodate the costs of an outside management company?

Actually, the new requirement of the test beforehand goes into effect on July 10, so there are still a few days to arrive and get tested upon arrival... clear as mud!

Where would I be driving to see this view...have I come up the road past Carl Gustaf & continued on ? is this view near where all the mailboxes are on the left side of road with a "word" above the boxes, like POTUS but not that ? Or have I made the turn where I would go by Baryishnikov's house ?

Apologies - I mistakenly thought that a noncompliant person in that situation could still expect to be admitted, sent for a test and self-quarantined while awaiting the result. Even today's publication by Le Journal seems to make a similar error so at least I was not alone in my mixed up confusion!

Travel insurance has changed alot in last few months. You can obtain cfar insurance only through a few companies and a couple has exception for covid. I would suggested Travel Insured for cfar. Keep in mind you must purchase within 21 days of the 1st day you place monies and you also must insure all prepaid non refundables If you are ok with medical only, i would suggest Travel Ex as they treat covid like any other medical condition/flu and if you or your family get it prior/during you are covered. And they also cover for quarintine. Make sure you call upon experts during this time It's all about protecting your investment and insurance is not your only resource!

I think that passengers arriving at SJU must show a certificate of negative Covid. If arriving without one, testing is available at the airport.

I have a client due to arrive there on Wed. I will post their experience as they have to get a test there since they were unable to secure one here properly. Note : it appears there has been a change . You must arrive with neg. covid result effective July 10th with no ability to just wait until you arrive. If you connect via SJU on Tradewinds you must show neg. test result and you cannot connect via SXM until 15 JULY or later but ALL could change.

You are smart to book with miles and yes prices are expected to increase across the board in 2021. There are 2 types of insurance to consider . 1. Cancel for any reason available through very limited insurance companies including a few wholesalers. please know there is a small window of opportunity to book this type of insurance either at time of booking or within 21 days depending on what you are insuring. 2. Then you have traditional medical only cancel. The company i work with covers covid as a medical condition if you contract it prior / during travel and will also cover you for quarintine. All insurance companies are different. If you are traveling in 2021 MAKE SURE you are insured and do not entertain working with any company or hotel who will not refund your monies if...

You realize that the local rules have changed since this article was published and you now need negative test results from within 72 hours before your flight. You cannot come without that and expect to be admitted and tested later. That is no longer the case! There is another thread where that is mentioned, so as for the tests, this was published yesterday, which says if you have been anywhere other than the French islands or the Schengen zone, you must show negative results from a test done within three days before flying… you cannot wait to get a test when you arrive:A compter du 10 juillet 2020 inclus, tous les voyageurs à destination de Saint-Barthélemy ayant séjourné au cours des 14 derniers jours dans un autre territoire que la Guadeloupe, la Martinique, Saint-Martin, Sint-Maarten...

I'm interested in hearing from any U.S. citizens who have traveled from the U.S. to St. Barths in the past 10 days. How easy was it to get a Covid-19 test in the U.S.? What type of paperwork did you bring to document your test results? Did authorities in St. Barths examine your test result paperwork? And finally, are you enjoying your stay in St. Barths?

The right thing to do is stay away for the sake of the island, imho. On the other hand it would be an economic disaster for businesses and jobs if that idea were to take hold. The island will open up in November and one can only pray that it won't be devastated by an outbreak.

We booked with WIMCO last month for March 2021. We did not get any assurance that we’d get a refund if borders were closed or COVID test were to come back positive; 20% of villa cost would be lost if we canceled before early Jan, 30% after that. Ouch! Fingers crossed.

Below is a google translated article of current interest from Le Journal and data from Santé publique France. The first forum appearance of dengue (2006), according to a prior post from JEK, may be interesting to read after these years of Forum Virology and Epidemiology. Many will have remember that just as COVID-19 is getting the attention these days, other viruses got attention during 2014-15 and during a prior dengue epidemic year (2015-16) in St Barth. Can you name those viruses? Click here and here for answers. THE EMERGING DENGUE EPIDEMIC by V.A 07/01/2020 Saint-Barthélemy will soon be in an epidemic situation with the circulation of dengue. The number of cases has been increasing steadily since mid-April. The resurgence of dengue cases continues. If all the districts...

Issues regarding enforcement of the test requirement were addressed in this Le Journal article. The full article contains additional information and is posted in another thread: (Bruno Magras:) "There remains one point to clarify, border control. It should be the ARS (Agence Régionale de Santé/Regional Health Agency) or the state that does it, as I understand the gendarmerie does not wish to deal with it. The question arises, to call on a service provider to take people's temperature, check their tests or send them to the laboratory." Indeed, many arrivals, local but also tourists, have been surprised in recent days to receive no special instructions on their arrival on the island, or even to find that they did not verify their certificate of negative Covid-19 test . They brought...

From Le Journal, this addresses some issues raised in other threads and contains additional information. Translation by M. Google. VALÉRIE DENUX: "FROM THE MOMENT WE REOPEN, WE IMPORT THE VIRUS" by V.A 07/01/2020 Neither the tests nor the protocols fully guarantee that a case of Covid-19 will not be imported to the island, while the epidemic is flaring up on the American continent. Everyone must prepare for it, the authorities by establishing an effective health protocol, and the inhabitants by respecting the barrier gestures. Since the establishment of the Bio Pôle laboratory drive, 515 PCR tests have been carried out, all negative. 110 serological tests (blood test at the fingertip) were analyzed, of which ten returned positive, that is to say that people have been in...
