Well, we are not Big posters on the site, but maybe time to start since it’s only our 4th trip here. Newbie’s maybe. It’s our honeymoon trip delayed from the obvious world issues. Arrived via Tradewinds Saturday before noon to give us an early start as opposed to the usual 6:00 arrival time from St Maarten. Being married to a chef and with what is available in the grocery here, saves us a bit and it also excites her palate to go out which we did on our 1st night here. We dined at Eddy’s, foie gras for starters, out of this world & goat cheese samosas. I’ve had the curry goat before & this was better this time, the wife had the Mahi-Mahi. This place is really a mainstay, love the place & most likely will visit again before the week is up. Day 1 is in the books. Andra & Tim

Hello, American keeps cancelling our flights so we decided to switch to JetBlue for SJU to Phl. We will arrive through Tradewinds around 10:35am and our flight leaves at 12:45pm. We have TSA Precheck. can someone explain the process at the airport to us after we land? I want to make sure we are efficient. we have two small kids that will need to eat something, and we are also checking two bags. Have things opened up at the airport as far as restaurants? Would love to eat at the Tradewinds lounge away from the crowds but might not have enough time.

Greetings! Thank you and Love reading the posts to catch up on all things St. Bart’s…….. Hubby and I are heading to SB in a few weeks for a few weeks. We’ve been coming for many years and have our “routine” down. We have eaten at many of the restaurants mentioned in the forum but found that we can extend our trip if we don’t blow the budget on expensive meals EVERY day and can have just as much fun!!! Besides the usual, Marche U groceries, La Petite Colombe Bakery, Au Regal, Chez Rolande, JoJo Burger, Le Select and Les Bananiers (especially the pizza!)……..What is on everyone’s list to eat like a local?? Merci!

Sorry for the repeat of a question that has probably been asked here 100 times. What does the opening of the US borders mean for travelers returning to the US from SBH (a reversal from my stance a few months ago)? My wife and I are trying to figure out if we want to take a trip this coming January (2022) or the following January/February (2023). If we do decide to travel, we would be doing so with out soon to be 8 yo daughter. It's getting a little late and it looks like we need to go through travel gymnastics to actually travel to the island with all of the book flights. As I have it now, we would be traveling from Bos-Sxm-SBH...... and return with SBH-SJU-BOS. This seems to be the best most cost efficient solution as lots of flights are fully booked. My wife and I are...

The travel leg was doomed! Flight out of JAX to MIA was delayed for an hour by rain & “weather.” MIA arrival was at D55, 15 minutes before departure at D21. Another passenger — a woman half my age! — and I “sprinted,” so to speak, through terminals. We had never met, but as she sympathetically looked over her shoulder to see how I was doing, she clearly sensed that it was a physical challenge for me, huffing & puffing! Finally arriving at D21, the agent said, “We’re glad that you made it.” THEN! We sat on the plane, at the gate, for 90 minutes because no AA personnel on the ground would close two open cargo doors. Apparently part of the recent AA employee work stoppage related to objections to an airline Covid vaccination requirement. When the time had been reached that, by law,...

We are having issues calling St. Barths from our cell phones in the US. We have ATT and have the international calling plan. When we call we get a busy signal. We are able to call other countries with no issue including France. The ATT rep has no idea what is happening, and we never had this issue before. Any ideas?

Wow, here I thought supply chain issues were limited to ritzy Fairfield County, but the stores on the island are severely challenged keeping things on their shelves. We've been trying to buy eggs (as only one example) since Saturday, and have come across all of one carton across five stores -- and that was in the basket of a young guy ahead of us in line, who merely said "I got lucky" in French. To be sure, we've found enough things to get us through breakfasts and snacking, but clearly some challenges for the local marches! I've also picked up that availability may be affecting some of the restaurant menus as well. But it is still paradise, and wine and rhum vanilla both appear to be in good supply!

We have come to really love this place for lunch. First class service, amazing setting and delicious food. She had the mahi and he had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Closed the meal with a cured pineapple carpaccio (who knew there was such a thing?). A great way to spend a lunch hour or two.

We'll be heading back to St Barth next week, and are a bit concerned by the new US requirement that everyone has to have a negative test within 24 hours of arriving home. The logistics of this tight timeframe seem pretty difficult. My understanding is that the St Barth testing facility closes at 1:45PM each day, making a test taken the day before arrival home (around 6PM) outside of the 24 hour window. Is it feasible to do a test in the AM the day of the flight? We were last on the island right before Covid, so I'm not familiar with the testing turnaround times. Our SBC flight leaves around noon, so if the turnaround is pretty quick, maybe a morning test on travel day makes sense.

Wow, lots of info out there. We are monitoring the sites to stay up to date. We just want to make sure we are doing this right and want some clarity on which PCR is needed. We are coming to SBH from US through SXM on Wednesday December 8. We are fully vaccinated and boostered. 1) The PCR test that needs to be done 3 days in advance - can it be the rapid ones from a health facility that take minutes to get the results (meaning we could do the test the day before we leave for SBH) or do we need to take the ones that take 3 days for the results to come back? We understand the EHAS process for entering SXM and also the 1 day testing requirement to head back to US. Thanks.

After a few weeks of renovation, Le Select opened in October with a new bar. Gary has retired and the new manager, Loic, is in the photo with Gary. Years ago he was a bar tender at BAZ. Eddy's son, Mahe', is one of the "big" managers. Virgil and Francis are still there.

Turned on the St. Jean feed that showcases Eden Roc and the old ER and saw lots of construction at 6.45 am. What time do they start working? I wonder what the guests of Eden Roc think of the noise. See you on the beach

She had gaspacho and the mahi and he had the grilled lobster. Both were meals were exceptional. We chatted with David about restaurants of St. Bart's past (Vincent Adams, Tres Forces, Autor de Rocher, and New Born to name a few) and he was happy to gift us this book. @ Dennis you would be proud.

Hi folks! After missing last year, we are booked for March and hoping hoping hoping these pesky variants don't interfere because we NEED this trip... Anyhoo, we are staying overnight in San Juan on the way down (we booked our flights far in advance but it was still almost impossible to get ourselves from Boston to SBH, things were already so full, it's crazy) and will be getting in early in the day so we'd like a hotel with a nice pool. Any recommendations for someplace convenient to the airport, but that will still feel like part of our vacation? Thanks much! Anne & Greg

Hi all, My wife and I have just booked a trip to St Barts which is replacing a trip we had to cancel a year ago, we'll be there the first week of Feb. Excited to finally get to the island. We're looking at trying a few restaurants there - L'Espirit, Le Tamarin, Bonita and Orega for dinners. Nikki Beach (Sunday) and Santa Fe for lunches. My question is how early do you typically need to reserve during peak season? Thank in advance

The recovery of airport activity for a few months has recorded sharp rise since the beginning of October. As to better symbolize the launch of the tourist season. For those who still have a foot outside for a few weeks, the tourist season is launched. Challenging feedings, more and more congested routes and a significant increase in the sound level are blatant illustrations. Another marker of the entrance in a period that is already so agitated as lucrative, the air-port activity. Indeed, since the beginning of October, the Rémy-de-Haven airport recorded a brutal rise in its attendance. In October, 9,928 passengers landed on the Tarmac de Saint-Barthélemy. A figure that corresponds to an increase of more than 30% compared to those of the 2020 financial year. In September, "only"...

I was doing some googling in preparation for our arrival next week and came across this article from 1991 in the LA Times. This was way before my time in SB but I thought some folks may get a kick out of it. $300 per night during high season?! I wish! 🤣🤣 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-10-20-tr-184-story.html%3f_amp=true
