I tried something new and now there is a St. Barth calendar I created with photos from my book available on Amazon. It's 8.5 x 11 and only sold in 2 packs on Amazon. It was supposed to sell for $19.95 for 2, but for Forum members they are $14.95 for 2. No one else knows they are on Amazon right now, so no special code is needed. Shipping is free. This is the back cover and shows the images used. They are available in St. Barth at 12 euros each.

Vincent from PIV told us that the island's population on Thanksgiving weekend was about equal to a Christmas week. He doesn't recall that occurring before.

Just sitting here on the patio over looking the harbor and watching the planes land, enjoying another visit to SBH. We are 1 week into this trip and it has been great! I still can’t figure out how time goes so quickly! We started our trip in L’Orient at Les Mouettes, since the Villa was not ready. What nice place. Having morning coffee and croissants from the bakery while listening to the ocean this really the best way to start the day! The surf was up the 1st 2 days, so the surfers were out in force. Great entertainment! Way too many cars!!! Wednesday it took 20 minutes to get from the grocery store in Gustavia to the Baz  Now it was noon but still. No parking at all, that I saw. We have had no issues finding parking at the beach lots, but the Marche U lots has been full every...

This past spring, Anita and I had a similar situtation develop when signing up for the Special which included massage and lunch. OH, but it did not include this and that when I inquired why the bill exceeded the advertisement. Left me feeling taken advantage of. As nice as the lunch was, will not return for other services. Too many other options for services. Reiterating, the food is very good.

I've been for one Christmas only and one combo Christmas/NYE. Fun times but I'd never do it again. It's kind of a been there , done that deal. Lot's of activity and the holiday spirt abounds but so do the crowds. Make you resto ressies in advanced for anything above Select level dining. On Nikki Beach sunday. We planned to do it last Sunday but were informed that to rent a day bed, aside from the 50e each fee, there was a minimum 450e "bottle" fee. We would have spent more than 450e for the chairs, lunch and wine but they insist you get a bottle of something for use of the beds.

absolute best pedicure I have ever had. dda loved the massage also. we started at 11 a.m. to beat the rush. when I had called yesterday, they said 175 euros for a day pass, pedicure is 75 euros. after the pedicure was finished, I am being charged 105 euros, I said no that cannot be correct, it is 75 euros. the girl then said, but we put polish on your toenails. she said its 75 euros for the pedicure then 30 euros for polish, doesn't polish normally come with a pedicure? its regular polish, nothing special. I feel this is bad business practices. nothing was said when I was in the room getting the pedicure other than which polish would you like today. the lunch was beyond good, the new chef they have is amazing. dda had tuna sashimi for an appetizer, beef tataki for the main...

Hello! Although this is our first time posting, the forums have been an invaluable resource to us. Thank you! We are now getting ready for our third (and longest) trip to the island within three years and our first during high season. Our previous trips were all low-key which is how we prefer it. Most days are spent getting fresh baguettes and croissants to accompany the amazing French yogurts and cheeses, relaxing on the beach of the day, burgers at Le Select, evening strolls along the water in Gustavia and music and laughter at Baz Bar. We wanted to see if anyone had any tips/recommendations for travel during the holidays? I know it’s the busiest time of year however it is also the only time we can take an extended holiday. Anyone else traveling to the island the last week of...

I'm with you Kevin, exact same reason we did not dine at Galawa the last two trips. It proved to be too much of a pain to park near the harbor and find our way around all the plywood construction walls that blocked our typical walk path to Galawa. Sadly going to miss that place, thought we would go back as soon as the adjacent construction was finished up, guess not now :(

Just got back...like landed at midnight. Parking is worse than ever with all the construction being part of the problem. Our villa was the first driveway up the hill from the "Goose" and workers parked all along the side of the road and twice, we had to chase one from our clearly marked private drive. That said, we parked up on the curb many times in "town" for dinner, shopping, short errands, etc. The lot across from Pearl Beach was pretty full the 4 days we went there but we found parking each time.

Another thought- fly into Puerto Rico. The 50 minute flight to the island from SJU is not as bumpy or ‘harrowing’ as from SXM. The round trip cost is $1000 or a little more depending on time of year and when you purchase. You say you are super sensitive to waves. The ferry or private boat will most likely be miserable for you, even if you take dramamine etc. Please let us know what you do and how it was. Bon Voyage.

You are brave. I would be afraid to wire money into China to a company I did not know, even if recommended by a friend. Especially after what happened with Thomas Cook Agency. Glad it all worked out.

That is downright strange. Glad you spotted the discrepancies in the store and pointed them out. Make sure your conversations with your cc company is in writing- orally you have no record. Send in writing ‘in follow up to our phone conversations with name of person ,the two 1100 charges are wrong at name of merchant on such and such a date and time. Also make sure you have any names and numbers of people at cc you have spoken with as well as at the store. Take photos of the receipts in dispute. This may seem like overkill but it helps in these situations.

My guess then is the parking issue was a major determinant in the restaurant’s demise. Sorry to see a spot people liked go by the ‘wayside.’
