Well said! Having grown up in Flint Michigan and now living in Minneapolis I have seen racism my entire life. I am not claiming to be innocent of the practice of subtle racism. Having said that I do applaud JEKs post.

it definitely was nice. today of course was a holiday, the reason for no traffic. normally to take that walk during the week would be suicidal. so many cars and trucks driving very fast, very little margin for error.

I really like Connelly. DNA can detect disease but I don’t know about addiction to sex, drugs and alcohol. It is fiction.

Another well written thriller from the pen of award winning author Michael Connelly a former crime reporter. Again, we are in LA tracking down a serial killer who picks his victims by a DNA marker. The perpetrator gets his leads from an insider of GT23, a DNA ancestry house. There is a marker that tells a tendency to addictions-alcohol, sex, drugs. Scary what the unregulated collectors can do with the things they uncover by reselling the data to other users. I was always uncomfortable about submitting those swabs. The dark side of the internet also involved. Really good-and I could not put it down.

They posted this about a half hour ago, not posting the whole thing, just a few snippets, if you wish to see the whole document that was posted, go to their facebook page. In France, Orly Airport will re-open on June 26th, but travel to the overseas territories is prohibited right now. No date for authorization for the return of flights to the french overseas territories has been announced by the french authorities. Finally, between st. martin & st. barth, reasons for travel is still required plus the mandatory certificate. this information is given out by voyager, so don't shoot the messenger (me) , if this info is not correct. voyager 25 facebook page.

It is still a little too early to say. Following the Prime Minister's speech last Thursday, the Préfecture of St Martin and St Barthélemy hasn't made any announcements yet as far as local measures are concerned. Hopefully we'll know a little more later this week as Monday June 1st is "Lundi de Pentecôte", Whit Monday (public holiday). What we know at this point (facts, no speculation): Mainland France (on a national level): - Lockdown is officially over nationwide, starting June 2nd (with a few minor restrictions until June 22nd, particularly in Paris). - European borders should reopen June 15th (free travel within the EU). - International borders (outside of the EU) are slowing reopening also, but as the Prime Minister mentioned, this decision is to made on a European level...

.........too many quotes.........And the rest of this extremely interesting discussion between JEK, andynap and noel about "islander" (referred to as a third-person to better single me out)..... Hopefully you're all feeling better? It seems that not everybody is a VIP member of the club, as it has been mentioned by some posters above (which, I assume, are not isolated sentiments). These personal attacks surely give a great impression. I thought there were against the forum rules but I must have been mistaken. it doesn't matter, even without a VIP card, there's still plenty to say about our beautiful island. And I will surely continue to do so. A bon entendeur, salut !

The gestapo referred to the word "verboten" used previously. Quick analogy that some missed apparently. Or my german origins maybe? Hmm, let me think this over.. :thinking1:
