Météo France has now posted a "Vigilance Orange" for St Barth and St Martin due to Tropical Storm Jerry. Most of the alert is copied below, followed by an English translation: Fortes pluies et orages : Orange Mer dangereuse à la côte : Jaune Vents violents : Jaune Bulletin de Suivi de Vigilance n°5 pour les Iles du Nord (Saint-Martin et Saint-Barthélemy) Episode n°7-IN Rappel des Dangers :

. . . sorry to be a little disagreeable, but I have other thoughts on both points. There is a “hospital” . . . its capacity may be somewhat limited, but it has equipment & highly credible medical staff that are highly effective & state-of-art, as I learned several years ago when hospitalized there for a serious condition. Coordination of matters related to the situation occurred between physicians on SBH, in Paris, & with my personal doctors in FL. Not only that, the food was incredible! . . . and school: I believe it’s inaccurate to say that education ends at the 8th grade. My understanding is that the French system on SBH educates children through the age of 15 — perhaps 16. In addition, there is a private school on the island that offers education through high school years.

Toni, glad to know you're home safe & recuperating from your fall. MedJet is something I think we receive offers for "joining" in our mail every once in awhile so next time we get one, I'll read it thru. Take care !

Many thanks to all for your happy wishes . . . very much appreciated! Wendy & I have been in New York, celebrating with a close friend, who shares the same birthday, & his wife. He has turned 80, so my 72 years are small potatoes in comparison! Meanwhile, I remain so very grateful for the SBH Online community of friends & the more frequent times I’m enjoying on SBH. Looking forward to the continuing friendship of each of you!

Wendy & I are so sorry, Toni, to read of your fall & pain . . . but gratified to know that the Medjet response was so positive. Your experience must have verged on being a nightmare. Thanks for sharing this narrative, & we’re, of course, relieved to know that you’re home & in good hands! Be well!

OH NO, Toni...I'm so sorry to read this, but very happy to know that you were taken care of so tenderly. Great testimonial for Medjet; it's about time I made that a part of my travel routine. I, too, send gentle ((hugs)) to you along with fervent prayers for a speedy recovery.

The spa at the Hotel Christopher looks like your best bet for a hotel spa, but they don't reopen until almost the end of your stay. www.hotelchristopher.com Here's what I have for a best guess at reopening dates for hotels: Le Barthelemy – Reopens October 28 Barriere Le Carl Gustav – December opening? Cheval Blanc IDF – Reopens in December Le Christopher – Reopens October 19 Eden Rock – Reopens November 20 Le Manapany – Reopens November 4 Pearl Beach – Open, Massage Cabin

Jeff has you in good hands. I believe Isle De France, just down the road towards Flamands from Roc Flamand, still has a spa & beach lounging. For a hike and great swim go thru Flamands (also a fine beach) and hike up through some great scenery to Colombier and enjoy the beach (pack water & all munchies/liquids that make you happy). Don't stay after dark - the paths can be tricky. Restos come & go, but those mentioned should give you many great tastes. Enjoy.

Oh Toni so sorry to read of your dilemma and so happy to see it will end well for you. Hooray for Gary and kudos for Medjet for living up to their commitments and fulfilling its end of the contract. Good to know they are reliable and efficient. Now, heal quickly. Rest up and follow medical orders and I hope you will feel better soon. So sorry to know you are in pain, and I hope your meds get you through it until you can manage on your own. You have shown us before that you are a tough broad! You are a trooper and I will keep you in my prayers for healing. Like Kevin offered, I will send more gentle hugs to you in Kentucky.

That’s a great story Toni. I hope you heal without any residual. Welcome home. As an aside we were in Italy days after 9/11/01 and the Italians were very solicitous to Americans with US Flags in windows and signs reading God Bless America.

Haha, Kevin, you're right, I need to stop "incidentally" passing through Newfoundland and schedule a proper visit there someday. And did I mention that I actually fell on 9/11? The irony of that was not lost on me. I think from now on I should just stay home (or at least in the United States of America) on that date. Anyway, thanks for your good wishes and I'll pass those kudos on to Gary.

I'm thin on Spa info. Most Spas are at the major hotels, many of whom don't reopen until early November. An option may be the La Ligne Spa, which is independent, and has manufactured their own products for many years. http://www.lignestbarth.com/us/

Wow, that is marvelous! Thank you all for your great replies! Indeed, Jeff did mention that we should go to Les Bananiers upon arrival. That seems to be a must now :-). His list did cover a few restaurants you all mention, such as Little Rock, Tamarin. Good to know they will be open while we're there. Does anyone know of any spas that will be open? Thank you all! You're tips are really appreciated!

Oh Toni! Very much mixed emotions reading this. First, so sorry to hear that you're in pain. My former Primary Care Physician once told me that the #1 key to avoiding medical issues as we age is Don't Fall Down! I've not been 100% successful in following his guidance, but at least I haven't broken anything. I'm pleased to hear that Medjet Assist performed so well. I think the original researcher/recommender of Medjet's services was Phil. We've been members for several years, so thanks to Phil for recommending them, and (sadly) thanks to you for letting us all know that Medjet came through for you. There's always a lingering question of whether or not a subscribed service delivers what they promise, and I'm pleased to know that Medjet did. The price of $25K is commonly...

There has been much discussion on this board about Medjet, but I haven't seen any reports of personal experience and want to share mine. Like many of you, Gary and I looked into it and decided to purchase a membership some years ago. Each year we pay the renewal fee with very little thought that we would actually have need of their service. It is really for our peace of mind. Anyway, that all changed for me last week. I was on a trip with some girlfriends in northern Italy when I had a bad fall that resulted in a fractured pelvis. I was taken to the emergency room of the nearby public hospital and when the fracture was confirmed, I was admitted. I called Gary then and, though I had trip insurance, I asked him to call Medjet to see if this was a situation that they might be...

We were told that there was someone who wanted to build a course on a rocky...well what else is there anywhere you look...hillside that would be on same side as Merlette section, but closer to Flamands, going down that hill but high up & to the right. Glad didn't happen, but surprised when saw the tennis courts close to where Villa Ylang Ylang is located. Spoiled what view there was there. Told no lights on at nite.
