I’ve had the three Moderna shots and my partner has had two. We’re arriving in seven weeks. We’re staying in a villa as usual and look forward to the time together and being alone. It may be a bit different than our 14 previous visits but it’s that important to us. We’ll be there despite the hoops. Life is precious and short.

See this FB post. It doesn't appear that the websites are updated yet. Wondering if SBH will also move in this direction?

COVID related- 1) no one has asked for vaccination card except for immigration 2) we needed masks for grocery stores and Bananiers. Petite Colombe has a mask sign on the door, but no one has them on 3) other than that, if you mention COVID, they look at you like you are nuts and say. “It’s over” 4). Not listening about it 24/7 on American cable news can improve your psyche immeasurably

Bonito was mentioned in a current thread as requiring a “no show” deposit to secure a reservation. Was wondering which, if any, other restaurants are following this (very off putting) practice.

Hi everyone, we’re planning a return trip to SBH in December, from New York. Usually I prefer flying through St. Martin over San Juan because I’d rather spend 10 minutes on a small plane than 1 hour. Given COVID requirements is one route better than the other? I’m fearful that flying through St. Martin means additional requirements and entering another country for no reason. Has travel through there has been going smoothly? This is my first trip since the pandemic and I don’t want to make a mistake.

If the stars align and we can get our booster vaccinations, we will be heading to St Barts this November. At home we have only been dining at restaurants with outdoor seating. I am wondering what are some of your favorite St Barts restaurants that would provide “safe” oudoor seating with open air and tables separated by social distancing. Many of our old favorites seemed to have only indoor seating.

For those of you signed up for this program, with TSA pre-check, and maybe haven't been traveling internationally during the heights of the pandemic, it may be a good idea to check your GE expiration date. To the best of my knowledge, there are no reminders sent. There also seems to be a newer system (at least to me), where you set up an account with your trusted traveler number, and then you can check on your expiration date. I believe you can renew up to a year before expiration. To the best of my knowledge, you do not receive new cards, with the updated expiration date. We took our first trip...domestically, and noticed no TSA precheck on our boarding passes. Turns out, our GE had expired over this past year, on birthdays in April and August. Set up new accounts, entered our...

Bonjour! At Le Guanahani, we had a wonderful chef, Philippe Masseglia, and his wife, who also worked there. We became good friends every time we went back and Philippe was so personable and would always take time for us to spend visiting with him and his wife, and also giving us cooking lessons, etc. When Irma came, we were naturally worried about him as our hotel closed for the last 4 years. Then I read somewhere that he was a private chef for the Eden Rock villas! Does anyone know what he might be up to in 2021-2022? I know he is a triathlete of note and has been in France but I was wondering if anyone has been in contact with him? Also, we noticed that Le Guanahani has now converted to a beach restaurant and the formal restaurant that was in the back does not seem to be...

David’s at Santa Fe gave us a few hints on the wedding tonight. Started at 8:00 pm because they had to start after sunset. As we drove by from dinner, it was just beginning and there was a crowd on the street watching. The manager of Eden Rock brought us some water and asked it we wanted to come in and watch. They had been working on it all week. Anyway, we learned it was $8million for the wedding. Eden rock, plus party for 350 at Tamarin and all day at Gypsy Beach. And Adele is performing tonight

Well, let's get this party started..we are finally able to plan a trip back to everybody's happy place..this time in season for the first time to celebrate birthday and anniversary! We are coming at the end of January and back to my beloved Le Guanahani, now a Rosewood property. After 4 years or so, we have waited and hoped it will be as good as before. They were super nice and remembered us from our previous trips. As you probably know, the hotel prices are not what they were...but you only live once and we are not getting any younger:laughing-cry:. That being said, due to coming from the West coast and overnight flights "obligent", we took the ones with the least amount of layover; unfortunately it was too complicated to come on Delta (necessitating a zillion miles and a 28-34 hr....

Thought I would post my adventures of traveling down, through SXM, so anyone questioning the process can walk through it with me. In May, we overnighted in SJU, and it was a breeze, sort of. And it was only me and Jim. But this time we are going through SXM. And my sister, who is a bit apprehensive, is going with us. So it’s a little like juggling cats The main reason we are going through SXM is that I chartered a SBC plane from SXM to SBH for a family trip 18 months ago. So I wanted to use up the credit, so I could stop worrying about losing it. We are scheduled to fly on a direct flight from Boston to SXM at 8 am Saturday. So our PCR tests are scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 at CVS. I have also scheduled Antigen test on Thursday, an option we didn’t have in May. I’ll keep you...

Eve started a thread D-2 in St Barts Island Main Forum
Had our PCR tests yesterday. Of course she said 2-3 days, but 48 hrs seems to be the norm. That means I will, possibly get the results for the 3 of us tomorrow morning. But we will see. So today we are taking antigen tests at 9:30, and should have the results this afternoon. That would give me an extra 12 hours to deal with SXM. I have to say, for all of the trips we have been on to SB. including May, this is the first time I am not packed and ready to go 2 days early. Haven’t really even planned any meals down there. I even realized I forget to reserve a car. Of course Jim has thought of where he wants to eat because I have pretty much kept all the intricacies of going through sxm away from him. But I have gone through all of the reservations 10 times and made sure the dates are...

If I can remember that far back… we exited the plane, got on the bus, went into arrival. Actually the SBC guy grabbed us before we went into the door with everyone else, I think. Gave a SBC guy our baggage claims and I think jet blue boarding passes. Then we followed the main guy down the long hall to the transit desk, and he needed passports, test results, sxm electronic approval. Gave us boarding passes. went to a woman who checked it all and moved us into security. went to the head of the line and we went through, and headed to Gate 1, basically a podium at the top of the ramp to the door. plenty of room to spread out in the terminal if you wanted. even though we were on a chartered plane, we still had to wait an hour for a plane to arrive, and it was scheduled for 1:30...

Which country will follow next? I know of one anti vaxxer couple up here who is a regular traveler to St. Barts. Line up, or no beach for you. I guess one can travel by car to Buffalo to get around it.

Has anyone stayed at Sunset Hotel in Gustavia? Due to a schedule change/cancellation by JetBlue in March, 2022 :grin1:we are trying to find a one night accomodation in St. Barths before moving into the villa we rented. The timing is not ideal because it is the Friday before the next week's Bucket and the inquiries I have sent out have not been successful. Either they say the hotel is booked or they won't do a one night stay, or we could stay at Guanahani for 1,800 euros (not happening). We have done this in the past with little trouble. Times they are a changing. Sunset Hotel is the only place that have given a positive reply thus far. It has to be better than the San Juan Airport Hotel right?

Very grateful for Eve’s pre-trip report of traveling in the COVID era but started a separate thread to ask this specific question. I saw on the St. Martin EHAS site that they require test results to be obtained on a nasopharyngeal sample. I’ve check several options, including the local CVS, and they’re all doing anterior nasal swabs. The test results I’ve seen clearly show the swab type. Are people getting through SXM with anterior swabs? Reference
