noel, While you are just another one who likes to send personal attacks (in reference to the French forum and the Getting to St Barts forum), it is interesting to see that you are starting your post with a "we". So I wonder, is it: we as "in the name of the all the members of the forum", or we as "the vip members of the forum" (what I will now call "the circle"), or we as "me, myself, an I"? Given the number of support PM's I receive, it certainly cannot be the first one. Now, in reference to your post in the French forum: I can see that despite my extensive explanation (certainly not without "real content"), you chose to use the "Metro French" expression in the above post again. Provocation? The French people is one entity. Under the law, there is not such thing as the" St....

This video was fantastic and inspired me to see YouTube videos where musicians were playing at Le Select to cheer myself up! I realized how much more I would like to see of the different music groups that play on St-Barth in person, so thank you for expanding my knowledge as well as delighting everyone with your video!

Through Sunday June 7, travel between the French Caribbean islands has been restricted, with the exception of a short list of compelling reasons (medical, family reunification, etc.). The restriction will be lifted, and unrestricted inter-island travel will be permitted beginning on Monday, June 8.

Bonjour to everyone on the Forum! I have been trying to figure out how to get back into my account and it finally worked! I have been reading along (and trying not to cry too much) because we can't be there and support all of the dear people of SBH, but we hope to get there next Spring or before. I hope everyone is well and send my sympathy to those who have been affected by the terrible Covid virus. (Davesdad may have had it on our trip down to the Caymans in January so we are going to get an antibody test..hope I was asymptomatic and have some immunity..) We are fine here now in California and getting out of lockdown slowly. We have not seen Dave too much, even though we live not too far away, due to our age (!!) and everyone wanting to respect the rules. Thank you to those on the...

Islander, We all recognize your hubris, but are struggling to find any real content in your posts. Please help us. And assuming you are a Metro French, please let us know what actual connection, if any, you have with St. Barths.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to take a few minutes to say what a blessing this forum has been the past few months. Every day I would get up, read the same bad news, see the same bad attitudes, the same bickering between "pundits" on the news, etc. etc. But day in and day out, my daily medicine would be to pick up my computer and log on to this forum. Granted, the number of posts have been relatively slim as of late since there isn't much (any) travel activity going on. But the one thing I've said to my husband every day is that THIS forum is the ONLY place that manages to stay positive and upbeat. Because I have such a love of travel, I've tried to keep my finger on the pulse of many other travel forums (i.e. tripadvisor and others). I've been amazed and, frankly, saddened to see the...

Ok, here is another aviation specialist who is going to teach everyone on how to land an airplane in SBH. Have you ever landed an airplane yourself in St. Barths? Are you qualified to land here? Have you received any kind of training for the TFFJ endorsement on your licence?

Nobody had their privacy violated here. Who said that anyway? Indeed no one accused the pilot of any error. Who said that anyway? You're missing the point. It is about respecting people we personally know on the island. Public figures, involved in providing health care to the population. If they crashed their car, nobody would even discuss it here. It is far more interesting to see a plane crash than a car crash. More dramatic, more scenic. Social media at its worst.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDCOwI5OWf0 This webcam has a slightly better angle. Looks like he comes in a bit high and off-center, then gets blown further to the left side of the runway until he touches down in the grass. While a lot of folks assume the bay approach is easier than over the hill, I've heard from quite a few Tradewind pilots that it is actually more daunting because there is a very clear decision point fairly far out in the center of the bay. Once you're past there, you absolutely must land since the chances of your plane being able to climb fast enough to clear the surrounding hills is very low -- and a bad landing is better than flying into a mountain or someone's home. I am sure it was a very scary experience for them, but glad everyone is OK. I don't want...

Plane crashes at publicly funded airports that require publicly funded emergency response are not private matters. Once an investigation is completed, it will be published for the public to read. Nobody has had their privacy violated here. Speaking as a pilot, I don't see any reason to be offended by this information being shared. No one accused the pilot of any error -- that will all be part of the formal investigation report when published. I would be interested in seeing video -- it is likely archived on one of the airport webcams that are on 24/7.

Je ne pense pas Pascale. Il faisait allusion à ses années à St Barth. The St. Barth French were friendly, unassuming, and uniformly decent. They liked North Americans and welcomed them. The European French, generally, were not that way at all.
