It's official:

It looks like essentially all of the Early Growth Plants in North Carolina and South Carolina are complete wipeouts this year. The peach crop? Nonexistent. The budding wine industry? Nonexistent. It is, by all accounts, a wipeout due to the record cold year we are having.

TIME to dust off this gem again?

70 degrees F here - no problem. Must be a local effect. ;-)

All effects are local.

Live locally - bug people and harangue them globally.

Not really. I am just a man who lives locally but gets bugged and harangued by people around the globe.

Argh.

Solar eruptions

So, let me get this straight:

The sun is our source of energy. No sun and there would be ZERO life on earth. ZERO.

The sun sometimes has monster eruptions, sometimes wimpy little ones. But even the wimpy ones can overload our telephone lines and endanger astronauts?

Fascinating.

And this leads me to a hypothesis. Perhaps, just perhaps, this ball of fire 93 million miles away which can affect even our telephone calls with minor eruptions might, just might have something to do with times when the earth is too hot or too cold.

It is an interesting theory - the idea that the source of our heat could sometimes burn a lot hot or a little cold.

How could those foolish climate scientists have overlooked something so obvious? They must have a liberal agenda. %-}

Turns out the solar energy falling on the earth (insolation) is measured by satellite to be roughly 1366 watts per square meter +/- 0.2%. It does vary slightly. You won't want to read this but here are the details.
