A game I like to play is trying to catch the ghost crab who wanders too far from the hole. One can entice them with tiny pieces of sticks. They are fast and shy usually but this guy was old and Big and slow. It was about 5 inches across and basically came up and begged for scraps. I found him early on Governeur on morning. Jack

Have to go with Gouverneur for a few different reasons:
The drive down to it offers a great view and for me a great sense of adventure. It also seems that because of the severe nature of the drive and drop off that that keeps the numbers down.
we never miss a vist to gouverneur, and every year, for the past 16 years, we stop at the top of mountain and stare down at the breathtaking, most magnifient shade of turqoise awaiting us. until a few years ago, the parking was an expereince in itself, but it was always worth it. unfortunately, the waves and the quick drop into the ocean make it difficult for me to get in and out of the water, so we don't stay long. but a trip to st. barth would not be complete without a visit to gouverneur.

We love Flamands because of the waves and the proximity to Isle de France and the luxe lunches.

And Anse de Gouveneur is well worth the trip. It's private, low key and very swimmable. Unlike Saline it doesn't seem to get busy.
