Why would anything that makes it harder for me to get there be a good thing?? I couldn't care less about the high season crowds- full is full anyway- but if I have to spend an additional day traveling- I do mind.

MikeR, in all fairness, you do love to rub it in that high season is so crowded and that when you go, you're the only one on the island...blah, blah, blah...LOL...FESS UP you are stirring the pot!

The McAllisters have tugs and ferries -- they have the Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry Co. Their suit against the Bridgeport Port Authority has earned me many trips to CT.

oh my head...I understand that...but if hyppothetically its going to be harder to get there in the short term..and if hypothetically there is nothing anyone can do to not make it harder in the short term..... ...and if hyothetically the result of it all is that people get disgusted and dont go....and if hypothetically the result of that short term problem is it EVENTUALLY becomes easier for all of you to get there...is that not a positive????.....LOL

Anyway, I can't believe that SXM built a new terminal to make it HARDER to get anywhere. That doesn't make sense. I will assume that it is the normal caribbean long way of doing things and it will all shake out.

The ferry company is required to collect a passenger tariff for the port and is paid a fee to do so. They are suing to block the tariff and effectively shut down the port authority which, by the way, is headquartered in a nice new terminal building almost right under I-95 -- one of Bridgeport's best features!

Anything that makes it harder to get there is good.

Well... If worst comes to worst and its not that bad, Rog and I will have a game plan, i.e. a place to stay in St. Maarten for the night with dinner in Grand Case and perhaps Premium IV can get us off the island via the Grand Case airport. If not, Juliana's it is. With our weather being what it could be in late January, if AC leaves late, well.....Grand Case here we come !
