In you live in the greater NYC area I have to highly recommend the Bring Your Own Wine on Mondays in the Summer special at Montrachet. Bob and I had dinner there a few Mondays ago and it was fantastic. There is no corkage fee for wines that you bring - they provide the Riedel and you provide the wine - no charge. There really is a buzz (the place was packed) and the food was incredible (I would recommend everything we had: Hudson Valley foie gras, goat cheese and asparagus salad, duck breast with a leek puree and wonderful rack of lamb).
Best of all - it felt like such a bargain because we weren't paying the wine markup.

Just want to second that Montrachet, although no longer hip and trendy (thankfully) is still one of the best in NYC. Wife and I eat there all the time, when in NYC.) Chanterelle, not to far away is fine, too.
