I don't give to PBS because they are annoying in their begging- I hope this doesn't happen here but it's getting close.

If annoyance was the criterion we used to determine how much longer a thread could run around here...

Yes- it has been quiet for some reason.

Oh dont be so modest. You and The Fellows did a fine job of making noise in my absence. I was particularly impressed with the way y'all could carry on long arguements when everyone actually agreed with each other. I may not have been involved, but I know true posting talent when I see it.
Bravo.

I don't want to push any wrong buttons here, but I am curious. Years ago, when we travelled to Saba for diving, a Canadian fellow, who was a 2X a year visitor to Saba, started something very similar to the Friends of St. Barths. He wanted regular visitors to donate money to keep the rainforest healthy, fire equipment, etc. Rog and I were quite prepared to make a donation until a friend of mine, from Saba, informed me that Saba received sufficient funds from the Dutch government and from quite a few of the residents who were if not wealthy, close to it and from off-shore villa owners.
So, my curiosity is - St. Barths is a wealthy island. Surely the French government/wealthy residents/wealthy villa owners could easily come up with the money needed ?
And no....We're not frugal nor "mean" with our money. We donate to numerous charities. We're just confused as to why St. Barths needs donations.

Well you will notice that I removed the Dr. from my name now that you are back. Plenty of medical advise- 4 nipples- without the remuneration.
